Trichromatic
A batsman with average of 24 and SR of 130 is better than someone averaging 50 with SR of 147. This is extraordinary. Bias against someone can't be more blatant. adi B, express bowling, Mosher and 2 others 5 Link to comment

Trichromatic
HS of DK is 48 and Rahul has a century already. Rahul should just retire. If top performance can't get into team, then nothing else can. He should just change profession as he no chance under current management. Link to comment
express bowling
There is something strange going on regarding the treatment being meted out to KL Rahul He is arguably the 2nd best all-format batsman in this team ... but is not a default starter in ANY of the formats. --- is not in the ODI squad even --- has the best SR + average combo in T20Is but is not even a first-choice backup player. The newspapers must become vocal Edited February 24, 2018 by express bowling sergio04, mancalledsting, adi B and 6 others 1 8 Link to comment
Jimmy Cliff
But but but he is the reserve opener. His time will come. And Karthik needs some match practice before takes over as the first choice keeper in the Nidahas Trophy. India's greatest captain showing amazing foresight and vision . philcric
Dhawan, Pandey, Karthik and Jadhav are apparently better T20 batsmen than KL Rahul according to team management. IIRC, even Rahane was picked ahead of Rahul in one of the games. Pathetic. express bowling 1 Link to comment
Jimmy Cliff
Here's KL Rahul's T20I record compared to Indian batsmen again before some of usual suspects pollute the thread. Highest Average, highest SR, best 50/innings ratio, more than 2 sixes per innings and yet no place in playing XI. Dhawan and Rohit put together average less than Rahul, Raina brought back from the dead finds a spot in the first XI and a TTF like Karthik gets to replace Kohli. Unreal bakchodi going on. bowl_out
In Kohli’s books, Rahul is an opener and a backup for Dhawan and can’t play in the middle order. No matter how many stats on SR and averages are shown, that’s not going to change. adi B 1 Link to comment

Trichromatic
You will say that management is making mistake and just don't want to try young players etc. Every team management/captain have their own bias and approach and they like to follow it. It's not that bad actually. Everyone wants players with whom they think they can manage resources in best possible way. Moreover there are cases when captains really trust someone as give them long rope. Sometimes it works and sometimes doesn't. You can divide all cases into two: 1. Cricketing reasons Senior players being preferred over unproven players - there is cricketing logic for that, captains don't want to risk it or have more faith in past achievement. Players whom we would rate 5 or 6 being preferred over player whom we would rate 4-5. No matter how much we criticize, this works sometimes. Captains see more potential in someone and try them. Out of form players over in form players - this again is because of past performances and faith in the players. These are cases where we can disagree with the decision, but captain has to make these choices and when it pays off all credit generally goes to player. These are genuine cricketing reasons and other theories do no apply here. Actually this happens in any field of work. A manager prefers to work with some people more because of understanding and ease of work with them and chooses them in their instead of just going for marginally better members. Even in appraisal, if you deserve best rating, you may get just good rating. Good rating can be average or someone deserving bad rating may get average. 2. Non-cricketing reasons If you're top proven performer (not just some good performer or not just a talent/potential) and you are being preferred over a mediocre or worst ones, then there can't be any logical reason to explain this. Other theories won't apply and you can't say that management is making a mistake. We would like to think that management is just naive, dumb or fool and can't see the obvious. But it's not the case. In fact they have much better idea and if still it's happening then there has to be non-cricketing reason for that. Same is the case with Rahul. He has highest SR in India, one of the best in world, and avg of 50. Morever he scored big in 2 out of last 3 T20Is he played. His exclusion doesn't fit in first case of cricketing reason. If you say that it's just conspiracy theory and there is logic behind this then you're just closing your eyes or you're fooled into believing that management/captain are dumb and have lesser cricketing idea than anyone else which isn't the case anytime. If a top perfomer is treated like this then their can only be 2 reasons: Discriplinary issue - If management punishes a player or thinks that player isn't a good fit because of other attributes like attitude etc. This is acceptable scenario Some unknown reason - It can be anything. Personal grudge, politics, no one knows actually. One more scenario is when player is getting close to retirement age and still performing. In that case if that player is dropped then there can be good cricketing reasons for that. Unstable Joe 1 Link to comment
