I had the opportunity to visit Tripura and place seemed stuck in a time warp. They were still reading pamphlets of communist manifesto while there were no roads, no connectivity, no jobs, no electricity. Like WB, it seemed like a state almost celebrating its poverty. Don't understand how a State can shift so drastically in three years. Has to be strategist Amit Shah and Himanto Sharma Biswas. At a personal level, Manik Sarkar has the reputation of being austere, but his party cadre are goondas and the lack of development under the commies has come back to bite them.
