Number
Looked like Prabhakar and Mongia returned from this match in 1994. http://www.espncricinfo.com/series/8546/scorecard/66000/india-vs-west-indies-4th-match-wills-world-series-1994-95/ Quote India had required 63 from 54 balls when Jadeja got out; the next four overs saw only five runs being added. The last five saw eleven more. http://www.cricketcountry.com/articles/manoj-prabhakar-and-nayan-mongia-inexplicably-refuse-to-chase-63-in-54-balls-as-india-lose-to-west-indies-32883 adi B 1 Link to comment
fineleg
Vijay Shankar can be shelved from "Intl cricket" for a while, ROFL - bottled it big time. Can continue in A-tours for now. Manish Pandey - pls keep him only in ODI squad, not in T20 Edited March 18, 2018 by fineleg sarcastic 1 Link to comment
saik
That time it was match-fixing,This time it is plain incompetency. Link to comment
vvvslaxman
Shankar is a slightly upgraded version of Cheteswar Pujara in limited overs. That is not his role. Power game is needed WC2011INDIA and ThePhenomenal1 2 Link to comment
bowl_out
Shankar is not made for T20. He is not a power hitter.. and looks like he is a mental midget.. was confused after two dot balls whether to hit or take singles.. His first batting performance. Wouldn’t judge much beyond this. One thing is clear though - that he shouldn’t play T20Is.. Try him in the Test match against Afghanistan Link to comment
Temujin Khaghan
Manish Pandey was never convincing as a hitter... his highest gear is S/R of 105-110ish.... Link to comment
nevada
Yeah, seriously man. Shankar was missing ball after ball in that Mustafizur over it was very, very frustrating to watch. Same ball, same swing and a miss ball after ball. He could have at-least tried a reverse sweep or something. And again, in the last over he very nearly destroyed whatever green sprout of a chance we had with DK playing a blinder. And the shot he got out to, instead of a feeble heave couldn't he have put some power into the shot to take the ball over the boundary? He could have redeemed himself with one single shot and he choked yet again. I think it is curtains for him, at-least for a while. That being said, only chance he got to bat was in the finals chasing, a super high pressure situation. This is why it is necessary to groom younger players by giving them chances sooner rather than later. Link to comment

Cricketics
Pandey can only play in t20s if he is coming at 3. Anything else, he is not cut out as he takes a while to start scoring or rotating. Shankar can’t be judged. He started well with early boundary today but that Mustafizur over made him look really bad as he could not connect anything in that over. It can happen to best of the best. He will learn. Its just a t20 match and judging a a new comer like Shankar based on one bad over of batting in a must win game isn’t right. Whats not gone for Shankar is that his okayish or poor bowling like today would only make some cricket fans think he is an ordinary cricketer since he also struggled witht he bat.. But he isn’t. He is very handy for ODI’s. Judge him after he has played about 15 ODI’s. This slogfest under pressure game isn’t the right way to judge a young player. He is a quality batsman. R.D forever
Shankar has some excuse. Definitely difficult to play ur first t20 in final pressure situation with ur partner struggling. And to face mustafizur.. Pandey should be dropped. No excuses he is just a clutch player . SandeepMotta and Mosher 2 Link to comment

RAZPOR
We cant judge shankar based on this one innings,it was his first innings and yes he chocked,he needs to be given a few more chances, its childish to say he needs to discarded based on this one performance. As far as pandey is concerned, was just a matter of time before something like this happened. He needs to kept away from team India and someother deserving players need to be given a go,hell we have one in Kl rahul ,one of his mis-hit went for a six today, thats the type of power and timing you need, he needs to be given more opportunities even if at expense of pandey.
