Virat Kohli to play county cricket this summer

Now we can confirm this. Virat Kohli will play county cricket this summer. The India skipper is set to fly to England immediately after the Indian Premier League (IPL) final on May 27.

 

Which county will Kohli be representing is not being disclosed but it is likely that it could be Essex. (This piece of information could not be independently verified). It is also a likely a few other Test regulars may also follow suit – an indication to that effect was given by Shikhar Dhawan yesterday. As is already known, Cheteshwar Pujara (Yorkshire) and Ishant Sharma (Sussex) have already signed up for county sides.

Great move. Hopefully it will be more than a 1-2 game appearance, although an proper stint is obviously not possible

I guess Rohit can lead the Afghan test match with lots of new players in the squad and playing 11. Nair can also make a comeback.

I don't want the best test bats to play that match. They all should go to county to acclimatize.

south african wickets have much more pace and bounce than england....and  kohli was leading run scorer in bothh test and odi series

Kohli v Pujara at the Yorkshire seaside resort of Scarborough in June? Would be brilliant for the Scarborough Cricket Club especially if they got an even bigger crowd than the usual 6000 (the Scarborough matches are a Yorkshire tradition and gets bigger crowds than CC matches at Headingley). Unfortunately we can rule out any chance of a win from that match. No way will we bowl out a team with Kohli in it twice.

 

Unless it coincides with your Test against Afghanistan. Not sure when that is. 

 

Just looked and the Test is 14th-18th June so both could return to England in time to play at Scarborough on 25th.

nope....it was his wedding ......instead other test players  should have gone earlier...but they were too lazy
