27 Mar 2018: 20-year suspension for Zimbabwe official Rajan Nayer for match fixing

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has handed a 20-year suspension, from all cricket activities, to Zimbabwe official Rajan Nayer.

The Treasurer and Marketing Director of the Harare Metropolitan Cricket Association accepted the charge of breaching the cricket body's Anti-Corruption Code.

This comes as a huge setback to the cricketing fraternity, which is working hard to wipe out corruption and match-fixing from the sport.

Cremer's bravery: Nayer charged with 3 offences by ICC

Rajan Nayer has been charged by the ICC with three offences.

The most serious one was offering Zimbabwe captain Graeme Cremer $30,000 to fix matches.

Nayer accepted the charge after Cremer brought the issue to the fore.

Cremer cited that all the players must approach the ICC regarding such instances and everybody should play their part in serving the common goal of corruption-free cricket.

Fact: ICC lauds Cremer for utmost professionalism

ICC Anti-Corruption Unit's General Manager Alex Marshall lauded Cremer for showing utmost professionalism in approaching the body and helping them out during the investigation process. The ICC is facing a challenge to wipe out corruption and Cremer's maturity served them well at the right time.
