Breaking news from @jimmaxcricket: Steve Smith and David Warner have been given 12-month bans by Cricket Australia. Smith will face media on landing in Sydney. #SAvAus

Smith will cancel his IPL contract and go overseas elsewhere for a time. Warner will play IPL but not captain. No word on Bancroft.

Thats great news. Expected this once the whole country wanted them sacked and the PM and sponsors to backing their removal. CA has shown they give **** about the ICC penalty of one match ban as they think one year is minimum for this. Nice precedent. Now i doubt any Australian players will plan such a thing knowing that CA have shown they can ban even their best player for an year.

Can see Smith losing contracts as no brand wants a cheat to be associated with their products.

Now that the culprits have been aptly punished by CA, it's time to move on. What's next?  I think Lehman's contract won't be renewed. meanwhile Paine might get extended run at captaincy. The options are not many. Too many injury prone players in the Aussie squad, will hamper their chance for captaincy. Who would be the VC ? Shaun Marsh ?

6 months max would be have apt IMO or 10 international games or something... This is too much for ball tampering.

This is almost end for them. Plus they are going to be away from cricket when they should be playing maximum cricket before the WC. 1 year away from cricket and then getting ready to picked, getting the form back before WC is almost impossible.
