The members of the BCCI are planning to oppose Shashank Manohar's re-election as the ICC Chairman.

They are unhappy with certain decisions that Shashank Manohar presided over as the Chairman of the ICC, especially the one that led to decrease in BCCI's revenue share.

The members are also against the ICC's proposal of converting the Champions Trophy into a T20 tournament.

Opposition: Srinivasan led faction wants Manohar out

Several members led by former BCCI president N Srinivasan met last Saturday to review the BCCI-CoA rift.

In the same meeting, the issue of Manohar's re-election was also discussed.

Manohar's term, as the ICC Chairman, will come to an end in June 2018 and the members of BCCI have decided to oppose his re-election.

Around 22 members attended this meeting in New Delhi.

Stormy waters: ICC went through tough times under Manohar

Shashank Manohar's stint as the ICC chairman has not been a successful one.

Under him, the international cricket boards' revenues have taken a hit.

However, the last straw for BCCI was the proposal to convert the 2021 ICC Champions Trophy into a T20 tournament.

The ICC believes a T20 tournament is much more marketable.

Tribute: India will host the 2021 Champions Trophy

The Champions Trophy was an initiative by late BCCI President Jagmohan Dalmiya and the BCCI doesn't want ICC to tinker with it.

As per media reports, the BCCI wants to pay a tribute to Dalmiya during the tournament.

The BCCI has also planned to host the final of the tournament in Kolkata in honour of the late cricket administrator.

To me it looks like BCCI has interests of Indian cricket at heart, and this whole COA and ICC combine has other questionable concerns.

They raised 10 issues.

The first point of the press note read: "The tender for media rights of domestic and bilateral games in India, which six years ago was sold for 43 crores per match after much discussion and effort and after following a transparent process, is now being decided only by a two member COA with inputs and briefings from the CEO and the legal team. They have put a minimum bid value which is lower than the existing value of six years ago. The Marketing Committee or the members that constitute the General Body of the BCCI were not consulted."

Another issue raised was Diana Edulji getting one-time benefit along with her sister Behroze despite being a member of CoA, which took the policy decision.

"It is a matter of great regret that the CoA approved one-time benefit to one of its members and her sister and has failed to disclose this as a transaction with an interested party. While the CoA pontificates on a number of things, when their interest is involved they are silent."

Without naming anyone, the manner of appointment in senior managerial position (GM Marketing Priya Gupta for example) at exorbitant salaries has been questioned.

"...the CoA is appointing people at exorbitant salaries without consulting the members and nobody knows what procedures were followed. The role of the head hunting agency (Kornferry) was also questioned."

Shah has been kept out of the loop regarding all matters related to NCA and he incorporated that point in their list of grouses.

"Decisions with regard to the NCA are taken without any consultation or approvals of members or even the NCA committee despite repeated communications requesting to do so. The NCA is integral to the development of future cricketers and the members have been completely ignored in its planning, development and execution of programs."

The Srinivasan faction also questioned the need for CEO Rahul Johri to hire a personal body guard, allegedly linked with an IPL team owner.

"The CEO Mr Johri in consultation with a security consultant got a personal body guard provided to him under the pretext that he was his secretary. One such bodyguard was recently seen on duty for protection services with an IPL team owner. By billing the bodyguard under some other head to prevent members knowing about it, Mr Johri in conjunction with the CoA have falsified the accounts," it stated.

When Rai was asked about this, he refused to comment.

The members also asked the COA "if the ICC has paid the BCCI's share of revenue for the ICC events that have taken place. If no, what steps have been taken to recover the share of the BCCI.

corrected.

he is not a mumbaikar.  he seems like a South Indian by family who don't use his caste as sir name but names of his father or grandfather as his second name. his father name is Manohar and grandfather Venkatesh. Venkatesh is a Southie name, not a marathi one.

Eduljee and Johri are making merry. Vinod Rai is almost 70 and is just a rubber stamp i guess. But when the CoA leaves, Johri will find himself out of a job and Eduljee will be a pariah in Indian cricket.

Then i hope he is better than Vinod Rai.

For me the lack of accountability for sc in this thats telling. I mean what about financial loss due to price discovery how would that be reconciled it could run to hundreds of crores loss for bcci, its very rookie imo of coa to messup bidding process like this, there would be a blood bath in private sector i think these babus dont have that fiber in them its all just due process for them balls to outcome.
