The costly fallout from the ball-tampering scandal in South Africa continues, with sporting goods manufacturer Asics confirming it had "terminated" sponsorship contracts with David Warner and Cameron Bancroft.

While not unexpected, the news is the latest commercial blow from the furore that has spread across the cricketing world after Warner, Bancroft and Steve Smith were suspended for their role in a ball-tampering scandal during a Test match in South Africa.

Asics said in a statement released on Tuesday morning: "As a result of last weekend’s events in Cape Town involving members of the Australian men’s cricket team and following the sanctions made by Cricket Australia, ASICS has terminated its sponsorship contracts with David Warner and Cameron Bancroft, effective immediately."

"The decisions and actions taken by David Warner and Cameron Bancroft are not something that ASICS tolerates and are contrary to the values the company stands for."

The move comes less than 24 hours after electronics company LG, a manufacturer of televisions, refrigerators and a wide range of other goods, confirmed it would not continue its sponsorship arrangement with Warner, the hard-hitting Australian opening batsman.

"LG Australia will always look to work with ambassadors that share our core brand values and we take these relationships incredibly seriously to ensure we put our customers, employees and stakeholders first," LG said in a statement on Wednesday.

Cricket Australia has suspended Warner and Smith for one year, and Bancroft for nine months, over the ball-tampering scandal.

Magellan tears up sponsorship deal with Cricket Australia over ball tampering

Wealth-management company Magellan has terminated its three-year sponsorship agreement with Cricket Australia in response to the ball-tampering scandal.

The naming rights sponsorship of the men's' national cricket team's domestic series only started ahead of last summer's Ashes Test series and was supposed to run for two more seasons.

Athletic shoe company ASICS has also torn up its contracts with disgraced players David Warner and Cameron Bancroft over the ball-tampering saga.

The company, which supplies uniforms to the Australian team, announced on Twitter it had severed ties with the pair, "effective immediately".

Electronics company LG had already turned its back on Warner, announcing it would not renew its sponsorship deal, which is set to expire in weeks.

Commonwealth Bank, Weet-Bix latest sponsors to dump Aussie cricket stars over ball tampering crisis

The fallout of the ball-tampering scandal continues to hit Australian cricket with the Commonwealth Bank and Weet-Bix removing under-fire captain Steve Smith as a brand ambassador.

"Weet-Bix ambassadors represent our brand values of trust and integrity, and they speak to everything that is good about being Australian," Todd Saunders, executive general manager for Sanitarium Australia, said.

"Their role as a ‘Weet-Bix Kid’ is to inspire millions of Aussie kids to be the best they can be. Based on the ball tampering incident and the findings of Cricket Australia’s investigation, we are unable to continue our relationship with Steve Smith."

Commonwealth Bank drops Steve Smith as ambassador. That’s very hard to swallow given their performance at the Royal Commission.

It comes as Magellan abruptly ended its multi-million dollar sponsorship with cricket in Australia.

Earlier Asics also turned their back on disgraced Aussie duo David Warner and Cameron Bancroft after ending their deal with the pair for their role in the sandpaper incident during the third Test in Cape Town.

Wow this is taking a turn for worse, this is massive fallout for CA and all the players.

Hope this is a lesson for all ball tampers from all countries, play hard but play fair is the best way to play any sport. These guys are representing their country, it is an honor they cannot take it lightly.

Cleaning seam and all that nonsense which some other players have done in past, should take umpires permission before they do anything.
