Indian cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni was today honoured with the Padma Bhushan by the President of India. He attended the ceremony organized at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in his Army uniform. MS Dhoni an honorary lieutenant colonel in the territorial army wears this uniform with a lot of pride.

What is the message being sent..Cricketers and army men are equal?

MSD : "An honour to get the Padma Bhushan and receiving it in Uniform increases the excitement ten folds. Thanks to all the Men and Women in Uniform and their families for the Sacrifices they make so that all of us could enjoy our Constitutional Rights. Jai Hind"

Unless you just want to find a reason to hate, its very obvious that he respects the army and these token tributes will only do more good to encourage the masses.

There are some hard core Dhoni haters on this site. I had to search both forums twice before posting this thread just to see if someone has already posted or not.

He is a legit member of the territorial Army. He trains with them too. He is wearing his authorized uniform.

He is as legit a member of army as Amitabh' getting an honorary doctorate.  To be honest, it was an insult to army men.  Dhoni got his award for being a cricketer and not being an army man. He should not have dressed as an army man in an award function which he not being an army man.

I don't think it is an honorary thingyy like on the case of Tendulkar.

He does take part in the practice..

.how much can be debated . His rank may be honorary but not enrollment.

If he has in someway earned the uniform, he can wear it for ceremonial purposes.

Pretty sure he must have checked the rules before wearing it to the ceremony.

Even retired people are allowed to wear uniform for ceremonial events.

Of course one can debate the purpose behind wearing it. His PR team is very strong and if they are using it to increase his rating ( which might as well be true considering how even the smallest thing is blown in a publicity stunt.) Then it is pretty bad. If it is his own idea supported by rules, then no issues..

I would say he looks pretty fine in uniform and should retire from cricket to give more time to his role in the Territorial Army .
