Lo

Another selfish and useless inning

how on earth was it selfish, he almost won u game that to with injury. Had he been selfish he wud have choosen being retired hurt

yesterday their were 2 example of approaching a chase

1. kohli- kept going got out team lost

2.dhoni - took the game late but got close team lost

Methods are different at the end both were looking for victories

Dhoni innings was vry good considering they didnt even get a good start which is important in high total chases . The only criticism CSk deserve is sending jadeja ahead of bravo

Joke or What??

Kohli's approach has been effective and has won us many matches on his own while the later one screws his mate at the other end eventually the team.

so had dhoni approach, its just at his dip in last few yrs not working and kohli is at peek so his execution is a bit more successful

M just pointing at two methods last night and both failed last night and at the end we just look at result

Kohli followed same footsteps, batted for not out (not for win) and was far behind.

yes, he batted very slowly. he started hitting only when match was over. he was 37 of 32 balls once without a six.  It did put pressure on others to score. QDK, ABDV, Corey fell to this urgency.  You are opening and not making use of PP is not acceptable on a flat pitch.  Difficult fathom they didnt play Vohra in place of Sarfaraz who is horribly out of touch after being out for one year due to injury.

Both are different. For RCB, all key players were in the hut within the first 10 overs. Not the case with CSK as they had Bravo.

Who was the cause for those players back in the hut? Kohli. he batted very slowly. 37 of 32 in first 10 overs batting PP is not acceptable at all. QDK, AB all tried to make up for his slowness and lost wickets.  Kohli's safety first batting approach is hurting him.

Not defending Kohli, just putting context into the discussion.

All were in hut trying to accelerate because opener decided to play at SR of 100. They were 75-2 halfway through inning chasing 200+ runs easily falling short by 30 runs.

At that time Kohli had scored 34 off 29, when situation and pitch needed 50+ in those many balls. It was not that they had lost 5 wickets by 9th over.

They were left with RRR of 13 in 11 overs.

Sarfaraz was played because he is the local lad. Also it appears Sarfaraz has a big politician backing. He’s a sifarshi player.

Kohli was forced to play him yesterday. When he got out, Kohli turned his back on him as he didn’t even wanted to see his face and react.

Yes, Kohli is making mistakes and gets emotional. But this ABDV is a joke of a player. Very rarely he wins matches on his own. He screws up most of the time.

Kohli needs to completely overhaul his bowling line up. People have read Chahal now. He needs to bring in some mystery bowler.

sarfaraz is not a local lad. He is from UP and neither he has any political backing. He comes from a poor background. His father Naushad is a coach in Mumbai and they belong to UP.  He is not a sifarishi selection. he was the top U19 batsman and did well for them in his first IPL.  He is just out of form at this point after coming back from injury.

thats kohli's game

he generally picks momentum in last 5 overs , he did same in 2016 world t20 and knowing RCB lacks depth he ll even be more carefull

About yesterday innings im sure he wud have this in mind that dew will fall late and he can catch up in that scenario also getting closer to target wud have been the idea as well to avoid bad NRR

I dnt think so the idea is wrong, n i dnt knw why its considered bad to take a game till end but again that shud be left on individual player.

Yesterday dew was expected and going at good pace till a point was ok, the problem was wkts kept falling at other side .

Kohli is no russel, gayle or even rohit he has his ways of scoring runs n changing gears but others have to support him.  If they rely on him then follow his game plan

QDK, ABDV shud have batted through , wkts in hand and gers can be changed in last 5 overs and their was an added bonus of dew n smaller ground

A problem with ABDV is at times he tries to much at start and ends up loosing it which he did against RR also. Wanre pointed the same thing when he was telling how kohli is a step ahead of abdv in LOI as he keeps it simple .

A set abdv at 15th over wud have wrecked havoc, if dhoni can get close in 85 runs in 36 balls. ABDV with kohli cud have done better

RCB is relying on these 3 and if they have to win they ll have to  try to bat through as many times as possible

Before that

They shud try Pawan deshpande at 4

kohli

de kock

abdv

Pawan deshpande

colin ( he is in touch , corey hasnt played for long)

mandeep

Try this combination for few games, tell top 3 to bat 12-15 overs and leave a lil less for others

my theory is give ill give 120 balls to kohli then manan , kohli will score more manan wnt even last that much . Kohli made 900+ in 2016 opening only and yesterday made runs to

Also ABDV is better at 3 then 4, tell him not to try to much at start.....he out of all can cover the dot balls faster then anyone

RCB has to bat around them

IF this doesnt work Manan can be tried at top , with parthiv or QDK depending on he performs

Also look at southee then woakes , southee is inconsistent but will win u a game or 2 on his own . At the end it all about somehow winnings 7-8 games

there is difference in batting first and chasing. expecting to score 88 in last 5 overs while chasing is unreal.  it rarely happens. you cannot have an RR of 8 till and expect you score 85-90 runs in last 5. Delhi chased down 195 against MI and they kept their scoring RR maintained at 10 RPO consistently.  Kohli's approach is fine chasing low totals, but expecting to scorer 18-20 runs per in last 5 overs is just madness irrespective of the batsman.  In this approach, you will never win. Raising RR creates pressure and you buckle under it.  Delhi applied the approach of maintaining their scoring RR. Their approach yielded them right result against MI, lost against KKR.

Deshpande is a hack. Kohli as opener is a risk. he wastes PP and if he gets out early, team morale takes hit. On flat pitches while chasing, PP is the most important factor. i want kohli at 4, ABDV at 3.

1st thing DD has a different personnel the RCB

DD has roy, pant, maxwell, christian/morris  ..........RCB has none like them , infact rcb doesnt even have 4 batsman in total

and in suppourt gambhir, iyer, shreyad much better suppourt then mandeep , sarfraz, corey who has been out of game

RCB has kohli n ABDV, QDK.....DD doesnt have player like that

So both cant play in same style

80 in last 5 overs is tough but still possible if these 3 are set , specially when u knw dew will fall . I wont suggest this if the wkt is slow and will keep breaking down with time

RCB has to play acc to their strength not DD strength

RCB did try the other approach against RR , they failed their to .

Their problem is they have only 2-3 batsman so a plan has to be made around them and obviously it will fail many times as u only have 2-3 batsman but making a plan around them is only their best chance .

If they dnt loose wkts their RR will get better , Kohli also has his limitation but he is their best chance so bat acc to him

hacks work in t20 specially on patta and then chinnaswamy is his home ground where RCB will play most games , even mandeep is hack still hasnt done bad . They have no option other then trying few combinations

kohli made almost 1000 runs in 2016 at opening and yesterday also 92. Everything is a risk.....

He has batted at 3 in most season n yet made most runs when he opened and if he opens again he ll again pile on runs

If he gets out team morale takes a hit V/S if he doesnt he carries the whole team

The probabity of 2nd happening is more as kohli is kind of batsman who cuts down risk a lot more then other so him scoring at top with consistency is a high possibility

Kohli at 4 is quite a bad idea, ur basically reducing ur best batsman into a half batsman ......he is a kind of batsman who needs time . That will make RCB into a ABDV surrounded team

Roy, Pant, Max well are compared match to QDK, Kohli and ABDV. Both teams depend on these three. GG, Iyer have done zilch till  now.

he is a T20 Hack means he isnt yet good enough to be a solid T20 player. his struggle against pace was obvious.  Regarding Kohli's runs, runs dont matter if team loses. It is not about individual runs, it is team benefiting from his runs. His runs yesterday were as useless as turd. most of them were scored when game was lost. They were 75/2 in first 10 overs chasing 214 at least 30 runs behind the target and he had played most of the deliveries.

That looks like defense only when you mention that CSK had players and RCB didn't.

The likes of ABD, DeKock, Mandeep, Anderson were all out whereas CSK still had Bravo waiting who's in prime form. One of the main reasons for the loss is Jadeja too. However I agree that Kohli should have accelerated earlier.

Bottom line is Kohli more often than not chases targets by orchestrating a planned chase, whereas Dhoni keeps everything till the last few overs which is perilious (More so in this case as they have wasted Bravo).
