Lol what a clown

Sachin knows nothing about leadership and now wants to take credit

LMAO typical selfishness that is synonymous with Tendy

Sachin didn't make a good leader, but it allowed him to see the virtues he was lacking in MSD. I'm pretty sure it was on Sachin's recommendation MSD was made captain.

You probably didn’t see, whom you were responding to

on topic, Dhoni was no where even close to being a contender for captaincy slot.... There was a void after Dravid quit and Yuvraj was being considered.

Despite Yuvraj being a senior and close to Sachin, the selectors  went with Dhoni on Sachin’s recommendation.... this is not even a new discovery... it was well published back then itself in 2007 before the Wt20.

And then these chamchas has audacity to say other as haters. Look at the comment made by "Anjaan-Agyaani" and the usual chamcha liking it, hypocrites.

Think it was Sehwag on line for captaincy after Dravid and not Yuvraj.

Nope....Sehwag was out of the team around 2007 in the Chappell era...In fact he came back strong in the 2008 Test tour of Australia when he hit a 100 in the middle order. Karthik and Jaffar were opening in Tests and in ODI's we had Gambhir,Sachin,Uthappa etc etc.

After Dravid stepped down,Ganguly had just made a comeback the previous year and Sachin decided to be the Bhishma pitamaha to a young Dhoniyodhana...selfless sacrifice and no greed to be the emperor :hatsoff:

The intention was to go with a young captain and Yuvraj was in red hot form around then but Sachin's acumen felt that Dhoni would be more assured to be teh captain.

Dhoni has leadership quality: Chappell

April 11, 2006 12:18 IST

Showering praise on Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Indian coach Greg Chappell said on Monday that the Jharkhand wicketkeeper has the potential to become a great leader.

Addressing a function organised by the Jharkhand State Cricket Association in Jamshedpur to felicitate Dhoni for being the first cricketer from Jharkhand to play for the country, Chappell said Dhoni has a positive attitude and plays the game whole-heartedly.

"Dhoni is a good hitter of the ball and has the potential to become a great leader. He has no false modesty and judges the situation to ably tackle it," Chappell said.

The 24-year old from Ranchi is a good runner between the wickets and has leadership quality on and off the field, the Indian coach said.

Expressing full confidence on the swashbuckling wicketkeeper batsman, Chappell said Dhoni would continue to improve his performance and will earn more accolades for his country and state.

He also called DK a future captain and said he was one of the best cricketeing minds in  India and also said Irfan Pathan is the next Kapil Dev :yawn2:

anyway Chappell had a good eye for talent but at the end of the day these statements didn’t matter, Sachin’s direct recommendation to the BCCI mattered.

Infact safe to say Sachin selected MSD to be his captain lol

Chappell rated DK very highly, even I have read his interviews where he predicted him as future Indian captain. He raved about DK's selflessness (lacking in other Indian players...his words) and cricketing acumen. I really think of DK as an underachiever, hampered further because of being born in the same era as Dhoni. Some of the test knocks DK has played for India against SA, Pak, Eng...only someone really good can play. Pity his over-enthusiasm and wavering mind affected him badly, hope at least now he can realize his potential in shorter formats.

yea their is no denying that  karthik was supremely talent and even uthappa but they have themselves to blame .  Chappell did like selfless cricketers n had issue with the selfish ones and over the long run he didnt prove wrong.

Selfless Cricketers like Dinesh Kartik are easy to control.
Chappell is a control freak and so it is not surprising he wanted people like Kartik in his team
To be frank, the new "Captain is God" policy of BCCI is gonna ruin desi cricket in future.
