This issue happened in the past as well when renowned shooter Heena Sidhu refused to compete in the tournament hosted by Iran. My question is when women players are forced to wear a headscarf & if they refuse they can't even participate, then why the hosting rights are given to Iran for these international events?

Good.

Why did the officials agree to the venue in the first place?

The world should boycott countries that have these ridiculous rules.

In 2016 World Chess Championship was held in Iran and 64 female chess players had to participate but many decided to boycott because of refusal to wear Hijab. Interestingly, only Iran made a proposal to host that event & not even a single chess federation protested it despite their players reservations. Shameful stuff.
Dont know what happened this time around, chess enthusiasts can further shed light on this matter.

FIDE corruption. The FIDE President (also a crackpot LINK) is blacklisted by US Treasury and European Banks because of money laundering and oil dealings with Syria's Assad. Even FIDE's official bank account is frozen and the top boss (Kirsan and his group) gets 20% cut out of total bid in all world championship related tournaments with zero accountability. No wonder most countries are not bidding. Also the FIDE President has always hobnobbed with dictators/warlords like Saddam, Karimov, Gaddafi, Putin, Kadyrov, Idi Amin, Assad etc so bad optics. If you follow venues of the grand prix tournaments over the last decade or so they are mostly held in places like Tehran, Riyadh, Khanty Mansiysk, Ashgabat, Ulan Bator, Tripoli, Tashkent, Samara, Kazan etc. Far cry from the old days when there used to be world class venues and world class events. World chess is obscenely corrupt with no hopes of improvement on the horizon. I mean Karpov lost the elections in 2010 and Kasparov in 2014....you can gauge the priorities of the voting members right there.

Kahaan se kahaan chale jaate hai yeh libtards? I am sure many left loonies and Muslims are seething at anger over this development. More power to brave girls like Soumya, Nazi Paikidze, Muzychuk sisters, Heena Sidhu etc who sacrificed their ambitions for a greater cause. At this point I think Iran is beyond repair, what a great fall that region has seen !!!

Imagine the nerve of these psychos to enforce compulsory hijab on sportspeople who grace the events in their countries. They should be treated like guests, instead they are asked go semi ninja mode without any consideration w.r.t beliefs/comfort of the players. Iranian chess players are allowed to compete elsewhere wearing hijab, rules are relaxed for them...can't these people repay basic human courtesy?

Poor Soumya is being abused by Muslims on social media, topped with rape and death threats. Staggering to think how majority of the Muslims enjoy all benefits in secular, multicultural societies but want to have it their way in places where they are in majority. Just like Sonu Nigam henceforth Soumya will always have to be wary everywhere she goes lest some Allahu Akbar guy with machetes finds her in a vulnerable spot. How is it that Muslims pontificate about chastity/culture/modesty yet top stats in porn search, violent rapes and grooming gangs? This dichotomy is astonishing and warrants extensive study.

If she really cares about her chess career, this small stuff shouldn't have bothered her. I'm not encouraging Iranian policy, just saying what I would have done in her place if my chess was my prime focus.

Alternatively, she could also win the tournament and throw the scarf dada style while collecting the medal/trophy.

Can you comprehend how absurd you sound in the bolded part? This is the real world bro, not a filmi one. Actions will have consequences, if she tries such a stunt she will join a long list of foreign political prisoners who are undergoing 3rd degree torture in Iranian jails on a daily basis.

Regarding your 1st para, that shows the difference between her and lesser mortals like you or me. You need to sacrifice something to stand for what is right. She may suffer professionally but will also inspire 1000s of women who have their freedoms curtailed by religious dogma. Someone has to face up against tyranny and I am glad that an Indian lady is doing that, showing the world how to stand up against Islamic zealots and expose them for the turdballs they are. This act of defiance is already making news worldwide, hopefully more players choose to follow her path and publicly shame Iran/FIDE.

Comparing Khaps in Haryana with clerics in Iran:facepalm:

I still have hope that one day Muslims will reform themselves and stop being a migraine to humanity, may take 1000 years, maybe more. But one thing is certain, dhimmis will remain dhimmis and libtards will remain libtards for eternity. Even if Muslims are on the path towards reform trust these insufferable pigs to come in between and stop their path to progress/enlightenment.

In 1000 years the whole World will be converted to Islam anyway, Inshallah!
