That's because the sub continent is full of maniac cricket fans who switch on the television to support their country.
However, football as a whole is the world's most popular game.
The buzz around the world is much more than cricket can ever be.
Also, cricket is eventually be dying.

Cricket is not dying its only changing shape , the success of IPL clearly shows that.

It is dying in White countries and West Indies. The problem is we still suck the balls of white men and want their approval.

The way BCCI supported Afghanistan , we can support other asian nations and organise big T20 Asia cup .it may not be instant success but it has lot potential.

Most test cricket supporters are slaves of whites and they want approval from their masters that they are good in cricket.White man will always tell them that test is real cricket though it has very bad future

+1

Who care about cricket dying in some countries as long as newer ones are getting into the scene. Looking forward to Nepal and Afghanistan giving us good competition in future.

This football World Cup makes me envy of the other 32 nations taking part - the buzz, fans, atmosphere, excitement - I don’t  think any sporting or cultural festival matches the festival of a FIFA World Cup

would love to see India be part of this, very very outside chance for 48 team 2026 WC

Asia alone is enough for cricket to grow, played by local born players and strong support amongst local population

already there is India, Pak, SL, Bangla, Afgh

BCCI should now provide similar help to Nepal and Papua New Guinea (though technically not in Asia)

since Ind/BD/Pak/afg play cricket. all 'cool nations' like UK/Aus will eventually leave the game as its not so cool any more since south asians play it. Football has europeans and south americans playing it..add a few africans  and asians ( japs etc) into the mix it gives the whole world feel.  If cricket gets less dominated by us, then it would become a world game else a south asian game primarily, white countries will see to it that this is done.
