Shreyas Iyer...why is he over looked????

Only 23+ years of age. Played 5 inns scored 210 runs @ 42 avg: and 96+ str: rate. Performed brilliantly well in India and fairly well in SAF for a youngster.Yet he is not playing in ENG... What type of selection policy is this??????

he has brilliant stats and age in his side too. And has performed more than up to the mark expected of a newbie as of now in one dayers.

That should be the criteria. If looks are the criteria then Steve Waugh,Border,Chanderpaul,Greme Smith,Steven Smith etc etc wouldn't have even got a chance to play international cricket.

raydu has brilliant stats , stats doesnt tell the true story most time. 

Pant, samson, gill , rahul all are way better

Rayudu has been a 46 avg: first class player.and his one day stats are hugely boosted by  large share of scores against minnows.But Iyer's case is entirely different

SL is not BAN or ZIM.  BTW  who told you SL is poor????  they whitewashed  AUS & PAK  .SAF is struggling badly against them in the current test. Just because they lost badly to only one team India doesn't make them a bad team at all. and Shreyas  thoroughly deserves his chances. So is  Mayank, Hanuma Vihari & even Karun nair.

Aus ,Sa are struggling against them at their home, we whitewashed them at their home

 

Shreyas doesnt have that quality , others are way better and soon they ll go ahead. Btw Shreyad failed on A-tour so he isnt helping his case either

There is no one in the XI that played yesterday who he can replace, that was our first choice batting line up.

 

Even if there was an opening I think I would rather see Dinesh play.

the problem of  viewing 'aesthetically  looking pleasing to the eyes' or having tight technique' as the basic requirements. These people tend to forget that  the likes of Viv Richards, Virender Sehwag, Steve Waugh,Border,Chanderpaul,Greme Smith,Steven Smith  etc etc proved hugely successful not because of looking pleasing to the eyes' or having tight technique' or both. On the other hand players like Hooper,M.Waugh,Hick,Manjrekar etc etc turned out to be  only 'very good' at the best

Iyer is a good player he has the talent for LOIs but right now we have gun top 4.

He has higher potential than dk, manish, jadhav. But we dont have much time to groom him before wc. Experienced raina and dk are better options.

I think we have too many players for the opening spot. After the WC Iyer will have a chance to displace Rohit and/or Dhawan
