Shaw batted brilliantly today against Eng A against the likes of Woakes, Curran etc at a strike rate of 70+. The same game where Vijay, Nair got out cheaply and Rahane struggling. It will be criminal to keep Shaw out of the team.

With a captain-coach combo like this, we can expect a long series.:yawn2:

Am certain that even if Shaw and Pant are picked, they will never make it to the XI.

You never know in 5 match series, after 0-3 down, it can happen.

So what will captain uber cool do till then, warm his hands in the English sun? Kohli needs a serious thrashing, problem is India's gonna get thrashed in the process as well!

Ok sure the selections will be disastrous as usual. Take Murali Vijay for example. Why is he a certainty in this test lineup? For the last 2.5 years , he has barely averaged 40 with the bat and even this is because he bashed Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan in a total of 5 tests. He was decent against England but England s two best fast bowlers were unfit for that tour. He failed against NZ/AUS and in SA and in WI.  Definitely not someone who can currently cut it against proper English seam attack with a red dukes ball.

Get Shaw and Pant as reserve.

They have both aclimatized to these conditions.

Shaw has been brilliant. He being on the bench will keep the fire burning in the openers.

As much as I like Vijay...I feel his time is up . Get Shaw in his place if vijay fail in the first test.

Pant has done fairly well too. He doubles up as reserve wicket keeper and middle order batsmen.

Give them an opportunity if others fail or are niggled.

What are the chances of Shaw making a wildcard entry if he slams a century tonight? Personally, I think he's primed for a test debut.

Ask Ankit according to him Shaw was exposed in ipl and he thinks Rohit, Dhwan has better technique and deserve more chances also they have experience to succeed.

But Ankit sir said he ll be exposed. Like uncle kohli looking for experienced player. Ankit sir also want him to grind in Ranji for 2-3 years and also shaw has loose technique and international bowler wiil expose him ,he is far behind in picking order as well according to great Ankit sir.

dude. you need to really cheer up...I dont think it will be 0-3 down for India.

There are very good chances of this happening. Once again the batting looks like Kohli or bust. Also no Saha, bumrsh, bhuvi coming back from back injury.

Not related to topic but Vaughan taunting Indian team on twitter and few Pakistani and kashmiris joining in. This team knows how to humiliate fans... sad thing is India has enough talent to beat any team but due to politics and favoritism right players are not selected.

where did u read the 18 number...

As per Espncricinfo

India will announce their Test squad on Wednesday, for the Test series in England. Keeping in mind the rigorous schedule - five matches played across six weeks - India will most likely have an 18-man squad, as was the case during the 2014 tour which also had five Tests. It is not clear whether the selectors will pick the squad for the five Tests at one go, or just part of the series to begin with. Either way, these are the questions ESPNcricinfo predicts the selectors will ponder before finalising the list:

But as per Kohli selection criteria, can he bowl 2 overs of part-time spin ie Raina ji

As per Espncricinfo:

India fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah is likely to miss the first part of the five-match England Test series, starting on August 1. ESPNcricinfo understands that Bumrah has still not recovered from the thumb injury he suffered during India's first match of the UK tour, their opening T20 against Ireland last month.

As per Espncricinfo:

Bumrah is likely to be left out of the Test squad, which will be released by the BCCI on Wednesday. It is is understood the selectors have opted to include the left-arm wristspinner Kuldeep Yadav, who made such an impact in the T20 and ODIs against England, and wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant, who gets a maiden Test call. Also making a comeback is Indian strike bowler Mohammed Shami, who had to sit out the majority of the IPL due to a hamstring injury.

As per Espncricinfo,,:

The selectors are also understood to have overlooked Rohit Sharma, who scored two centuries in the limited-overs leg of the England series. Rohit was in contention for the middle-order role, but a patchy series in South Africa left the selectors and team management unsatisfied. Rohit was dropped from the one-off Afghanistan Test in June. Karun Nair is likely to be handed the extra batsman slot.

So Rohit's Test career is over.
Or will Kohli consider the friendship and include him too?

What a clusterfcuk this is becoming.

Bhuvi seems to be off the boil after injury.

Bumrah injured and out of series.

Shami personal issues most likely he'd not be at his best.

Unsettled batting line up. Don't think anyone even knows who are our 5 best test batsmen are. Rahul-Rahane both could be in the XI, or both may miss out. Dhawan/Vijay/Pujara/Rohit .. there's a chance all 4 could be in the XI, there's also a chance 2 of them might not even make the squad.

Thing is it's not lack of personnel. India has enough of really good players to work with. The team management (selectors, coach, captain) is either incompetent or biased or both.

India should have had a settled squad before embarking on tough and exciting year of away test cricket in SA, Eng, Aus. There was a chance to make history. SA already gone, a wasted opportunity. The way things are looking, we may get a phainty in Eng.
