He will win us the series, even if India lose the first test (which is likely).

We desperately need a fit Bumrah in this test series.

 

In SA test matches, he bowled with great intensity in most sessions,  maintained high speeds of 138 k to 148 k throughout,  hit the deck hard and extracted a lot of life out of the pitches and bowled to a plan.  

 

He looked hungry to win the tests and never looked like going through the motions.

 

This is what we need ... and not pacers who drop intensity or pace or don't have any plans.

Time to look beyond Umesh,Ishant(to some extent)we have others waiting for opportunity,they too have the hunger,Cant believe bowlers lke Umesh and Ishant have been persisted with for  so long.Though,Umesh in his entire career, only has bowled with great intensity and pace in Aussie tour of India 2017..but regressed a lot since then,so has given ample reason to look beyond him,Ishant was given a long rope till now in the name of grooming,he actually has bowled with control of late,but going forward dont think he can accompany Bumrah,bowlers like Siraj,Saini should be given decent chances in the longer format as is evident with their recent performances in domestics and A tours,India has the supply line to be best in the world be it in bowling,batting ...but down the line selection panel needs to have some vision,some focus, some planning and lots of honesty with their selection process,not a Rocket Science thing ,can be achieved (glory), with sheer passion to take this team with glorious past to the Peak

Bumrah is good but doesn't warrant such a big excuse of a thread yet, in my humble opinion, especially in tests. In ODIs, yeah he was missed and could have made an impact but tests, not so sure. I remember Michael Holding saying Bumrah might not have what it takes on English pitches compared as to South African or Australian ones, because you need to kiss the surface here rather than bang it. I respect this man's opinions at times and even Wasim agreed with him.. All said and done, we will never know for sure until Bumrah actually plays though...

Minus Bumrah,Bhuvi this rather gives look of a pretty weak bowling attack,we can never rely on Umesh,Ishant to take wickets upfront.At best Ishant will hold one end,Umesh with his lost pace wont have any influence,his lackluster discipline will ,which I fear might haunt us,then there is the slip cordon,seldom chances will be dropped with a foolish smile on their faces ,only to have a long long day.... sigh

Stop over hyping him, in 6 test innings in SA he was the worst seamer, only outbowled Pandya! Given the favorable conditions, he should've won us a game at least. Since he didn't, his test credentials are still unproven.

 

Imagine Aus picking Lee over Gillespie or Kasper, on 2004 tour of India. Unfortunately, like Kohli and many of the commies, the LO bowling blinds others wrt his longer format game. He still needs loads of experience & consistency in being a staple at test matches.

He did win us a game in Johannesburg,he took 5wickets in first innings,thereby Sa were not able to take a reasonable lead on that pitch

I'm not sure if he's that damn good, only time will tell. I do want to see him bowl in the Lords test, hope he's fit by then. That slope could be exploited well by him.

He didn't, the wicket was always a minefield and the only way SA could've won was if they bowled out India early in the second innings. Our batters won us that game, not Bumrah.

Had it not been for Bumrah ,Sa could have taken a mammoth lead,bowling at right areas also matter regardless of the nature of the pitch, there had been many bowlers who failed to cash in conditions provided to them,He is best among the Indian pacers who read the condition well and bowl as the conditions demand,discarding or overlooking his performances in those three tests are unwarranted,he didn't bowl  badly our batsmen rather messed up a golden opportunity we got in sa which was only given by our bowlers

He didn't bowl badly? Did you miss the 5 innings in which he ended up taking just 9 wickets? Statistically he was the worst frontline seamer in the series. He bowled poorly in the first test, was simply inconsistent with his line and length, didn't do much in the second test either. Sure the batters can be blamed but when you're the worst seamer, with at least 6 or 7 seamers outperforming you, including the debutant Ngidi, then clearly you've not done your job.

So you think ending up with an average 25.11 make him bad or worst,if that is the case I think you are right

It will take all 11 and the bench to win this series. In 5 test series bench is more important than the starting 11. Bumrah alone won't hack it.

Yes, when opposition bowlers have sub 20 bowling avg and most of your team mates also avg under 20 with the ball, it is bad. Is it so bad that he need not apply for tests anymore - NO, but stop making him as some sort of a savior. Kumar was our best bowler that series, then comes Sharma and Shami.
