No matter what the weather might be, Poms will try as hard as possible to give GREEN MAMBAS

Recommended Posts

I don't think they'll try that, their batting is still pretty brittle. Though India will be making a big mistake if we don't include a spinner, even on greenish pitches. Unlike SA or Aus, a green pitch in Eng, NZ gets better to bat on in second innings. So toss could be a lottery, if they prepare a surface like Lords last time we toured.

Whatever be the Indian team, i always feel confident that we will perform better on a green track than a flat overseas track.

Our bowling (whoever be the bowlers) become better on green mamba's.

So, give us Green Trackssssss plzzzzzzzzzzz

This is a myth. Look, on a rank turner or a green mamba the win becomes a lottery. If you win the toss, you're at an advantage and more or less win it most of the times. But the green pitches England prepares do not behave that way. Good batsmen with sufficient technique will find a way to score runs. Technically deficient guys, like Kohli 2014, will not lay bat on ball.

Just look at the results of 2011 and 2014 where Ian Bell, Cook, Root, Matt Prior, Gary Ballance, KP all piled on runs. But our champions couldn't score much. On a cold morning at Old Trafford I still remember the horror when Broad and Anderson left India reeling at 8-4. Before you classify that as a green picth, England piled on 367 before India were bowled out inside 160 runs again in the 2nd innings.

Lords was some terrible English batting, hooking and pulling at everything

There was a difference between bowling attacks too. Had Broad and Anderson bowler to their batsmen in those pitches, they would have done as worse.  Anderson was just unplayable in 2014 last two tests.

This Indian team will be shot down regardless of the pitch and conditions. If practice matches (county, A team matches et al) are anything to go by, we're in for some bloody tough times.

Half of the test team batsmen are alraedy exposed by this county and A tour tournament. Especially top order Vijay,Pujara and middle order Hahane and Karun Nair that's 4 out of top 6.

Everything will depend on weather here in UK. If weather remains hot, even the greenest of mambas will become tame by Day 2. If it starts becoming cloudy, then even a little amount of grass will give good swing. So let's see what the weather holds for us.

Its hot only by UK standard. First test is in Edgbaston and max temp will be around 26 to 29 throughout the test which is not hot by any means with minimum 14-15.  when we played wanderers test against SA in Jan, max temp was similar.  Too much importance has been given to temperature, which is not even high. 26 is considered pleasant weather.

It is all relative, but the grass will get dry quickly if temperature is around 25s as it is quite dry heat over here. Also the temp is at it's peak from 11am to 6pm when the pitch will be open and played on, so any grass will quickly dry out.

Anyways the point is there won't be any green mambas atleast in first two tests.

yes, grass may dry out but if pitch has moisture in the morning, indentations will help ball seam around like it was in the Indian A games. That pitch against WI had no grass, not a lot of bounce too, but ball moved and seamed around.

The batting average of our 1 - 6 batsmen in SA was horrible. None apart form Virat averaged over 20 runs. Like you mentioned Chet has already struggled in county this year, even though this was not his first stint in LVCC.

I think there will be an improvement though in how our batsmen fared in SA and how they would in SA. At least two batsmen will average over 30 this series.

Provided they get consistent run and shouldn't be the constant changing and chopping as we have seen during last SA tour.
