TNAmarkFromIndia
Former India captain and chairman of selectors Dilip Vengsarkar has joined in the chorus of voices slamming the selection policy adopted by the team management in the recent series defeat against England. Vengsarkar’s comments follow another former captain Sourav Ganguly’s scathing criticism of the chopping and changing in India's middle order during the series."Number 3 and number 4 is the most crucial pair,” Vengsarkar told Hindustan Times. “It speaks poorly of the selectors that we don't have a settled number 4. How can you unsettle batsmen of the calibre of Rahul and Rahane?"If Ajinkya cannot fit in the ODI squad, there is something more to it than meets the eye. How can you drop Rahane in the next match India is playing (ODIs) after captaining the (Test) team against Afghanistan? How can you not have confidence in your top players of the calibre of Rahane, a proven player in English conditions?"Neither KL Rahul, nor Ajinkya Rahane have been given an extended run in the Indian ODI middle order, and Vengsarkar observed that Rahul in particular has not been allowed to settle into the playing XI. "What's going on? If you are going to play musical chairs then the confidence of the top players player’s will take a beating,” he said. “It doesn't augur well for the future. He (Rahul) has been unsettled, which is not good for a quality batsman."Earlier, Sourav Ganguly had said that India needs to find a settled player at number 4, speaking in the post-match analysis after the team's loss in the third ODI at Headingley. "I think two of your best batsmen are not being looked after properly," he had said. "I’m not saying it’s deliberate. Maybe it’s a mistake, maybe when you look at things from the other side you look at it differently. But it’s my opinion, from this side of the ground, (either) of those two (KL Rahul or Ajinkya Rahane) have to play at 4 because it’s too much pressure for Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli." adi B, tweaker, raki05 and 5 others 2 3 1 2 Link to comment

Usual Mumbai quota won’t be surprised if Gavaskar and Manjrekar cry about this while doing commentary.According to Gavaskar in Test matches he feels Che/Jinx have been treated unfairly as their batting order was changed or they were dropped during the India/Afghanistan test match. The Realist
What's depressing is that all these ex-players, selectors etc just parrot the same old players (Rahane especially) to be recycled. Why do they never think out of the box and advocate the selection of younger and untried players? Rahane has been repeatedly recycled and is hopeless in limited over cricket. He is now in his 30s, seriously it its time to move on. Switchblade, raki05, GoldenSun and 1 other 1 1 1 1 Link to comment

After the first ODI in South Africa Sunng G looked very angry that Rahane is not a regular even though he score 46 in the Joburg Test and then 74 in first ODI he lobbied for his selection as he plays with the straight bat and he is technically good. speedheat
Marathi bias nothing else also these chew**ys overrate batting technique some times they fail to understand that little unorthodoxy is needed in odi cricket, rahane no doubt has good technique but is big no in odi cricket, he gets stuck and struggles to rotate strike, weak against spin too, kl Rahul is the best option for num.4 as he can anchor as well as hit big when needed on that position other than Rahul I think krunal can do a good job for us at num.4 but no rahane please Link to comment

Turning_track
Rahane doesn't deserve the spot in our LOIs team at all. He has been given many chances but he fails to grab it with both his hands. His game doesn't even have a 2nd gear & the 3 hundreds he scored in 90 ODIs is proof of that. Please enough of TTFs, try the younger ones instead who deserve a chance.
