Khota
@cricketaakash FollowFollow @cricketaakash More The state of Zimbabwe cricket is, once again, forcing us to ask the question--why and how runs/wickets against seriously weak teams are given equal weightage as International runs/wickets vs must stronger teams?? Shouldn't there be a system to differentiate both... 3:29 AM - 22 Jul 2018 This is what I have been saying for a year that cricket averages done the way they are done now mean nothing. You get no valuable information from them. So those of you who flash that stuff in front of me now you understand why I dont value your opinion. Khota
Nothing against Pakistan and that is not the context here. It is my grudge against the staright up antiquated average system. I know it will get better but meanwhile I will get the hate. Link to comment
Vilander
Average against a side can be used instead of international average.. Link to comment
Trichromatic
It doesn't get equal weightage in ranking. If he is talking about the overall stats, then isn't it how all sports work. You don't count goals against weak opposition as 0.5 goals, it's 1 against everyone. What is he talking about? BlueBee, sourab10forever and Rightarmfast 3 Link to comment

Inequality in football becomes an issue for international games. Most of the players have their reputation build in clubs so international matches don't matter much. Clubs have lot of equality. Track and field is a non issue so it only comes down to cricket where there is a lot of discrepancy. Now IPL is about fair as it gets with home and away games for cricket. For cricket only thing that should matter is WC championship. Short boundaries/long boundaries etc are so many variables that it is hard to have some consistency for runs scored etc. Similarly Tendulkars wicket is not the same as Kumbles wicket but both count as one.. Cricket needs to do better. Link to comment

Hell Raiser
Although I don"t agree with his opinion but just loving the reaction of the parosees. Akash has trolled them and they are triggered. Link to comment

Clarke
And that's why averages aren't the be all and end all of cricketing or sporting excellence. Sport in general provides plenty of variance and cricket is among the top of those. There wouldn't be a cricket forum if averages were so absolute. If one starts weighted averages, there will be no end to variables; for instance we've seen wind direction make the difference between a six and a catch. Link to comment

Yes, and while weak opposition can inflate figures, no one gets long career stats just by bullying weak opposition. Link to comment
sriniwu
off topic question: would aakash chopra be able to score at a s/r of 100+ against zim (team of any era).. Link to comment
sriniwu
on topic : weak or not, you have to be able to score / take wickets against such teams... there are plenty of players who fail to capitalize too against such teams.. Link to comment
Gollum
Unnecessary comment from him, these things get evened out over a long career. Even past ATGs boosted their stats against minnows, nothing new here. sriniwu 1 Link to comment
Trichromatic
Reminds me of this Only 2 in my 103 tests.. Kumble and my test wicket count would have been something else if we got wickets like last 4 years we playing on https://t.co/fvkdVw1I1v — Harbhajan Turbanator (@harbhajan_singh) October 9, 2016 @Ankit_sharma03 Ankit_sharma03 1 Link to comment
Straight Drive
To debate his point he should be asked whether Kapil's 175 coming in at 17/5 against Zimbabwe in WC be ignored? I would be interested to know his answer. His statement would look total rubbish if he had watched that innings. It is the best innings ever by an Indian cricketer considering the situation and the era he scored them at SR of 125+. Even better than Sachin or Sehwags or Rohits double against better teams. Should such an innings be given less weight age? Personally i feel whatever he has said already happens. Fans rate a 100 in WC finals higher than usual 100's. For example i rated the 100 Manjot scored in U19 WC final much higher than the runs scored by Prithvi Shaw and Shubman Gill in WC. Or for that matter Gauti's knock of 97 in WC final against Lanka more than 264 scored by Rohit Sharma. Having said that there doesn't needs to be a separate system. A sub system already exists and coaches and selectors probably consider that. One can always use the filter in stats if he wants so. Link to comment
Sachinism
It's the same moronic arguments made by Pakistani's re Sachin Tendulkar scoring runs vs Zimbabwe (even though that team was 10 times better than the current side) Now Fakhar has scored a double they've jumped onto the sensible side by accepting Zim are an international cricket team, doesn't matter they're rubbish. And Aakash has taken the moronic side Link to comment
