Arjun Tendulkar gets his first scalp

Recommended Posts

There was a thread about this match:

It was streamed online, and some of us watched a bit. Arjun is certainly more than simply a nepotism player. He has some promise, even if it's not an abundance of promise. Interesting to watch him over the next couple of years.

what has he done in eng?

he reminds me of kalaria

Nah, Kalariya was very different, had a weaker action, ginger runup.  Arjun has a strong action and aggressive runup.

Vilander was saying he got to play in England and to bowl to England nets is because of Sachin, but may be because his maternal roots are in England.

He looks quite ordinary to me,do you how many wkts has he taken in domestic junior tournaments?  in any case i dont have anything against him ,as there have been many  ordinary players who have played at junior levels.

As far for his grandmother ,i barely know anything about her ,who is she ?Are you implying she has more influence than sachin ?There are many british citizens here on icf, does this mean they have more influence than sachin among cricketing circles in uk? Surely sachin is better connected in the cricket world than a mere british citizen .

He was the highest wicket taker in Cooch Behar trophy among fast bowlers.  Mostly, it is the spinners who take a lot of wickets at Junior level as fast bowlers are still developing or do not play lot of games due to injuries.  Karthik Tyagi picking 50 wickets in U16 Vijay Merchant trophy was what catapulted him straight to UP Ranji trophy team last year. The next highest wicket taker, Anshul Kamboj, among pacers in that tournament had 21 wickets.

Regarding his grandmother, I am merely saying that because his grandmother holds British passport, it becomes easier for him to play in England. I am not saying she has more influence or not. There has been so many examples of cricketers who have been in England who born elsewhere but played for England just because their mother, father, grandmother, or grandfather are/were British.

If there arent many better candidates then it is ok for him to play .

Having  british ancestry might help from a legal perspective but he isnt working nor studying in uk , he could have gone there even on a tourist visa.

A couple of other bowlers get 5-fers in the same match but only Tendu is in the news.

So called allrounder scores a 0 and gets 2 wicks(2nd one is Tailender) out of 20 wicks but somehow sachin PR potraying like he did some wonders. Even Dinda can do better than him:phehe: if he has powerful backing like bambi mafia

sachin too is one of the fittest and strongest players

Sachin was super fit and ran riddiculously quick. But his son is different level must be aroun 6 ft or 6 ft 1..built. If he bats 50% of his dad and does ok as a fast bolwer you have a damn neat allrounder.

Actually, unlike politics or bollywood, it thankfully hasn't affected Indian cricket very much. On the other hand if i were to talk about favoritism ...

Does the name Binny ring a bell?

Arjun has a long way to go as a bowler. Out of four seamers, i give him 3rd rank. Mohit Jangra played both games and picked the most number of wickets, but i will give him 2nd. For me, the most impressive was Yatin Mangwani due to the control he showed who played 2nd test in place of Akash Pandey. Akash Pandey 4th.  Yatin Mangwani is an India prospect and should be looked after with best training and coaches possible. Jangra is close and is an aggressive bowler. Other two have a long way to go.

Some of the selection in India is not merit based. Understood.

So nagarkoti who at 18 already touches 140+ should hit 160 at 24 ?

Very much possible. Akhtar and lee did that, Tait did that. They were not hitting 160 at 18. Akhtar and lee both both 160 at 26-27. So if someone has hit  149 at 18, it's possible he might hit 160 at his peak. Stack was hitting 144 at 21 and hit 160 at 27. It all depends how he develops. It may happen, may not happen. Like in case of Cummins who was hitting 150 at 17 but hasn't increased his pace like lee, Akhtar, Tait, Starc and mich Johnson did. Even Johnson at his debut was bowling only 137-142. Few years later hit 155k.

Look at avesh and khaleel Ahmed. Avesh was bowling 135 in u19 WC, hit 149 in IPL 2 years later. Khaleel who was 130-135 bowler in u19, is now hit 148 kph in SMA trophy. It tells you how good our strength and conditioning has become. Even BK who used to struggle crossing 135 has hit 140-145 at rimes as he became stronger.

U19 World Cup is what i wrote. Besides maybe Ashwin and pandya , most of players in current Indian team have played an important role in U19 Indian campaign so its a pretty good indicator where they are going. If jr tendulkar had even a bit of talent he would have been in the squad. Even the guy being criticized today Pujara was man of series in one of the edition.

what is your point Tendulkar is playing India U19 now. he was not playing u19 before because his 2 years got wasted due to injury. how can you play u19 WC if you dont play U19 in domestic. He played U19 domestic and was the highest wicket taker among fast bowlers and after that he got picked for U19 team this tour.
