Better option is to open with Pujara, who can play as per the conditions, and Rahul, to whom I will give the complete series

Opening with Aswhin and Pandya, who would perfectly if test cricket were played on paper

Come again? We will not win a single session if conditions are similar in the last 3 tests.

The logic follows from the Don's greatest test innings, Ashwin and Pandya could probably survive the longest if they bat positively like they did in this test. We can't play defensively, tentatively for 50 overs hoping that the shine goes off the ball. Right now we have 0 openers who can stick at the wicket or play positively over 50-100 balls. This will in theory lenthen our batting lineup and give us a better shot at competiting, DK also need to go right about now.

i like that. maybe open with DK and Pujara,  --> nothing to lose.

DK

Pujara

KL

Kohli

Rahane

 Pant

 Ashwin

pandya,

ishant,

shami,

bumrah

next pitch is swinging more. so we need purists to bat. dk is off choice but with his place on the line, lets see if pressure can egg him on..

disclaimer : i am a minority DK supporter and wish him well..

I don't think pitch is an issue, the current crop of Indian batsmen just can't play the Red duke ball.

Except Kohli, these overhyped and overpaid batsmen have no answer to teeny weeny swing, two matches in row now and all batsmen (except Kohli) playing with fear. Lack of technique to rotate strike and/or score boundaries when ball swinging.

Even Kohli can't face Anderson and Woakes swinging it bananas under the clouds, did you see Chris' spell on the first day to him?

True, Lords Day 2 was exception, it would have been difficult for anyway.

But it was normal amount of swing Day 4 (no different to day 3, where england score over 300 runs) but all Indian batting specialists looked like amateurs, it was same in Edgbaston.

I would go with that line up. Shastri bot who has played cricket in England for county should be able to know what kind of bowling works what kind of bowling doesn't work. Ishant getting wickets there is one gigantic fluke. I would take bowlers who can consistently beat batsmen endlessly and eventually get them out rather than fluking a wicket or 2 out of the blue. The way he leaked runs to sam curren should have said something about his luck. India needs genuine authentic swing bowlers. India's most test wins in England came with the help of swing bowlers.

You're absurd!

Openers have to open, that's all there is to it. Find other openers if the current aren't good enough at the end of the series.

I hate this idea where the ones doing their bit are pushed harder and harder at the expense of some non-performer or loser. Pisses me off no end at work or anywhere else.

Absurd, WTH are you talking about? Reversing batting order is a tried and tested strategy, it wasn't just Aus who employed it to good effect.

Kaha likha hai openers have to open, is there a rule book somewhere? We need players who can survive the new ball, older ball is much easier to score against, as could be seen in all 7 innings of this series.

You have any other bright ideas, or openers who can survive 40 overs of hard toil?

This is what's inane about this Lord's Test when conditions couldn't be any obvious. And worse...not a single genuine swing bowler selected (considering BK was injured).

Once again have to question the basic intelligence of the selection committee, Kohli and Shastri

It'll be the same disaster start in each case. Firstly, Rahul, Vijay, Rahane, Karthik haven't shown themselves capable of leaving or defending properly. Additionally, Batting isn't getting much easier at all. These guys keep bowling off/leg breaks at 85 mph even after over 30.

Just my opinion though, you're bound to have yours and I don't wanna debate endlessly like the Pandya debate :)

When the rape is inevitable just lie down and enjoy. I enjoyed the chewtiyapa on show today. * the negativity, I will treat the rest of the series as some comedy TV series and laugh hard.

P.S Apologies to female posters, don't mean to offend sensibilities but some harsh truths need to be spelt out loud now....consider this man on man rape.
