Well my hearty thanks to fidgety KKD for his idiotic ways that forced the gentlemen’s club to open the door for a young Pant... To their horror, Pant has performed as we all expected from him... this is horror scenario for Dadu gang and his fans... as there will be calls to include Pant in LOIs...

They tried very hard till now to stop Pant breaking in... but idiot KKD put paid to their plans...

My complain is that KKD wasted 2 tests to fail...

I back promising youngsters. I would say let's not put too much attention on him for the rest of the series. He is bound to have a few good performances, along with a few bad ones. Let him settle down in international cricket .... We can evaluate his performance after the 3 tests

Glad to see him keep well, not as perfect as Saha but very good for a 20 year old kid. Door permanently shut on the faces of Pappu and Karthik. Coming to ODIs/T20s it has become impossible now to justify Dadu's continuous selection. Must be given marching orders but we have a napunsak naukar as our Chief Selector. Selection committee role is as important as Captain/Coach especially in a country like India with such a huge pool of players. Pehle MSK ko laath maar ke bahar nikalo aur kisi aukaat waleh ko lao.

Pant just needs to improve his foot movement behind the stumps against pacersrest he looked good, when anticipating the ball a keeper needs to quickly take a step or two towards the ball if it's beyond your normal reach .

Will see later how he keeps against ash

For now my expectation is let him take the straightforward regulation chances. That is all i want. I don't want superman efforts at this point. He can try, if he doesn't hang on i am okay.

I think he did well in that regard. Pope's catch was an example.

I am glad he did better as a wicket keeper than a batsman on debut. That will put less pressure on him in the coming matches.

If we can debut a pure batsman ( prithvi or mayank )and a bowler ( siraj)in the last two test.....then no matter the result of the series, I will consider this a successful fruitful series.

Took him some time to adjust to swing and seem but then his footwork kept getting better and he was moving well. This is what helps when you keep to the top bowlers in the world in the swinging conditions, you learn and keep getting better. He just kept getting better over after the over, and as he started taking catches, he just started feeling more comfortable and felt he belonged here. He started chatting more to the slip fielders, cheering up bowlers etc which showed how confident he was then. Spending time behind the stumps helps greatly. Pant is just going to get better with each innings.

Agree...

Certain minor things which he can improve...his trigger movement is always towards left....because of this he missed a tough chance of ROOT...

I just love that he did well with his wicket keeping. Many of us have become skeptical about wicket keeping skills of young keepers. Nobody trusts WKB after Dhoni. Most of people, even on ICF doubted his wicket keeping skills. The only point is we need to give him chance and that is the only way for his improvement. This team management and selection committee has been too conservative with introducing new players. I like that we have a proper channel of U19-> Ranji/India A -> National team, but in certain cases you need to try players earlier. Shubman Gill, Prithwi Shaw, Mayank Aggarwal, Kamlesh Nagarkoti, Shivam Mavi, Siraj are the guys we should see in national team in next 1-2 years. Now, only other thing team management needs to do is selection of players for right format. Select Siraj for tests not for T20s.

Bcos Bumrah and Ishant are primarily inswing/inward seam bowlers he was moving towards the left as most collections will happen that side. For Pandy and Shami he was not going much to the left.

Pant comes across confident but not over confident unlike Pandya. Confidence plus great hand eye coordination plus brute force.Pant will learn fast unlike Pandya who is taking his own sweet time.

When did pandya come across overconfident????

Sweet time.....he is learning as quickly as i hve seen anyone....
