     Since Sundar has not played , he may not be picked .

     Looking at  current performance - Pandey may push  Iyer out. 

      6th bowling option big headache -Management is still looking for pure batsmen who can give 3-4 overs. So Kedar may sneak           in.    

       Me thinks only 1 new pacer may get selected , probably Khalil. Second spot may still go to Umeash.

Tbh a lot depends on the next Test because if Ind loses they can send full strength but they wont if they win the next match.

 

Even scheduling of Asia Cup is really bad. India plays Qualifier and the next day they face Pakistan which could lead to fatigue and exhaustion.

The team that I expect is far different.

 

Pacers may include Shardul and Kaul or Umesh.  

 

Dhoni will be there.

 

Rayudu maybe there and one of Kedar or Raina.

     India  for me seems to be still hanging on to tactics used when there were 5 fielders outside the circle between 20-40 overs .

     Due to more cover on boundary line , part timers were successful. Hence one could get away with pure batsmen who could

      So need little bit out of the box thinking from management . What if we go for bowling all rounders at no.6  than  pure

      1.In the last 3-4 years india has won when top 3-4 have fired , if top 3 are gone early , rarely they have

      2. Generally 6th bowling option will be used when big score is building up and regular bowler/s get hammered .

  Check in such matches how much part timers have leaked runs.

      3.  How many times the no.6 batsmen gets chance to play decent amount of deliveries ? In Top heavy india batting this stat

          will be very revealing. 

     4.  Which is good option to win a match - restrict the opposition to less score or allow them score more and then try to chase

          with a pure bat at 6 ?

     5.  Pressure creates wickets in One day  matches - A bowling all rounder will  put more pressure than part timer.  

          Hence they should really be looking at players who are more of  bowling all rounders  who are big hitters as generally

         number of balls they play is much less .   

           Players like Krunal, Gowtham, an improved Sundar  should be our top priority for no.6 as per this new changed approach. 

          Alas we do not have a big hitting leg spinner who would have been the best choice.

           Even in batting we need to consider some 7-8 overs as  power play overs during 11-35 over period rather than waiting to               hit out only at the end after 40 overs as there are only 4 fielders outside the circle while on last 10 overs there are 5 .  Also

          you will have best bowlers at the death. Target weaker bowlers of the opposition for those 7-8 overs in 11-35 period.

          This could be 1-2 overs at a time . go bang .. bang  then again normal .. again bang .. bang .

           But bowlers to be hit to be noted early.

           Find one aggressive batsmen to open so that first 10 you make impact herever possible.

No point in playing Bumrah and Kohli in Asia cup. Bumrah has just returned back from injury and Kohli has been having bad back. These two are crucial for India's chances in Australia. Bhuvi has returned, so I am assuming he will be part of the squad.

Asia cup is not world cup. Kohli is playing through bad back now and in the heat of UAE, he might worsen it and might be out for couple of months. The last thing we want two months before the Australian tour. Bumrah just came back from injury and has shouldered heavy work load in the third test. He might do the same in Southampton as well. No need to play him in the heat as well. Rohit and Dhoni are sure starters, Kuldeep and Chahal will be there as well. India has a chance to try out young pace bowlers for this series. I will not play Yadav or Shami as well. Rahul or Dhawan can be part of the team as well. Kohli and Bumrah are our top Test players at the moment and we should not play them in Asia cup right after as 2 month tour in UK. Kohli would have played all the games (3 T20s, 3 ODIs and 5Tests) and it will be stupid to make him play Asia cup which in large scheme of things matters for nothing. India won the last edition, not sure how many people even remember that now.
