Ashwin has failed India overseas yet again when it matters

Recommended Posts

This fatso always fails when there is expectation on him and its laughable he is a international athlete.

M. Ali looked threatening yesterday and will outbowl him in 4th innings easily

Time to get rid off the dead weights holding on to team based on reputation. But with current team management nothing will happen.

At times he's too smart for his own good. Tries too many variations instead of just doing the basic thing right.

Watch his interviews. He comes across over-smart. Unfortunately same is true in the field. He should clear his mind and keep things simple. Trying too many things and for different formats. Legspin lol. How about off spin first.

Having said that he is still quality and if Ali can bowl good he needs to step up as well.

Sorry to say, but he seems mentally shot

keeps on bowling 8-10 mph quicker than the required pace

Everyone is on about slow down the pace nearer 45-50 mph

not sure what analysts and coaching staff doing, but regardless Ashwin should know his own game

whenever he slows it down, he gets bounce and turn

Exactly ,he is bowling quicker and flatter almost 30% of his deliveries and most of the others are straight darts. He should know himself by now that whenever he has bowled slow and delighted on the rough ,hes getting enough purchase

Epic failure in this innings!

One of the pundits made a great point, where fast bowlers are able to hunt in a pack. There's usually 3-4 of them to exploit the conditions when they're in their favour.

Whereas there's usually only one spinner and when there is something in the pitch for them, suddenly they're expected to run through the side. Which brings incredible pressure on them to deliver.

Regardless Ashwin has been quite poor. Never looked a threat, whereas Moeen consistently posed a threat to our batsmen.

More than not taking wickets, his inconsistency was frustrating. Last I saw him bowling this bad was 2012 Home series vs England. He was bowling 6 balls in same area not giving any room to cut.

Today it was filthy. Short balls full tosses carrom balls and all filth

I am from South. Ashwin is a rich spoilt kid and a product of rich coaching classes. TNCA is probably the worst cricket association in the country. We can never see a Umesh or Jaddu or even a Dhoni from TN.

If someone is supporting Ashwin cause he is from TN then he is supporting the wrong guy

Nah... apparently he is taking a dig at me. :phehe:

Poor kiddo. Leave him alone. :p:

Ashwin started so well this series so I was very hopeful

And he has been poor ever since and that has been so disappointing to see.

Esp so far this match where he has gotten as good conditions as he will ever get in SENA

Also... Dont buy this injury excuse

a) If youre injured then dont play but if you play you will be judged by normal standards

b) I find it very convenient that whenever Ashwin fails somehow talk of him being injured crops up

He should've worked in Cognizant instead of playing cricket.

I think more than Ashwin under performing, it was about Indian batsmen under performing vs Moeen. Some of Moeen's wickets were absolutely gifted. That placed a heavy burden on Ashwin. This performance will be put into better context after Moeen's performance in the 4th innings.

Combination of both. Ashwin should not be as bad as this. Moeen should not be as good as this.

Ashwin is not able to get curran. Simple. India lost because of this. Eng won because of this. let us hope this test India wins on back of Kohli and Pujara and Rahane, need some luck going Indias way.. 4 *ing toss' in a row..how unlucky can India get.

Ashwin should pick up Curren's wicket every time. Sadly Curren targets him. With lot of lefties he should run through them with accurate bowling.

If someone target you have better chance of getting the wicket it’s just Ashwin doesn’t have it in him.

I don't think he listens to anyone.

He is bowling with a different wrist position every ball , too flat most of the times and too quick and delivering the ball off his first finger instead of majority of the time looking for loop and turn by bowling off middle finger knuckle . All caused by lack of rotation of the hip and chest on because that action is for all these variations he is trying .

being out bowled by Moeen Ali

says it all

Actually, its more like England has out-batted India against spin on spin-friendly track, yet again.

This concept is so alien for Indians to accept that its understandable. For so long we've been kings of spin batting that the whole ' must be great against pace to succeed overseas' has taken away from the one bread & butter of Indian batting lineup: near-invincible against quality spin bowling.

But i don't see why this is so shocking, the last 3-4 England-India tours have classically demonstrated that this English batting lineup is significantly better than the Indian lineup at playing spin.

Ashwin didn't get outbowled by Moeen, he just got to feel what Murali/Warne felt against us ( not saying England team currently is as good as Indian team of 90s/2000s against spin, just that Murali/Warne knew what it felt like bowling to a much stronger batting lineup against their specific skills -spin bowling- than their batsmen would do).

No, coz he has a hip injury. hip injuries are not so simple, even with a clean bill of health, you will still have to baby it for a while.

He has been bowling chest  with no rotation  for quite a while. Was using in T20 for his leg break stupidity

Ashwin was a collosal failure last year in CT. he was the worst spinner in the tournament but his support on ICF was sky high. This man single handedly has caused so much pain in SA and now England.

No excuse of injury. If he is injured he should have sat out. Period.

Still he is a valuable asset. But for now jadeja should be given preference from.next match

That is illogical.
Whether one sits out or not, is a case for team selector's competency. it doesn't change the fact whether someone's performance is affected by injury/injury-recovery or not.

Hip injuries commonly lead to healing but also lot of fragility in the hip flexors for a long time - its actually a common athletic 'major' injury that doesnt get the attention from the public.

His ODI career is pretty much over. Yes he bowled very bad today when it was needed the most but TBH he was pretty good till now. And in SA.

Reason why so much hate is because he talks too much. No one would lose their **** if jaddu fails. Cause he is a simpleton

Why the * is Ashwin bowling so many variations  ?  This is not a bloody T20 !

Why can't he bowl some good old fashioned off spin and aim at the rough more often  !

He keeps using too much of it and loses the plot .
