Kohli’s team is developing a dangerous trend

Recommended Posts

It is slowly becoming a clear cut mental block for this team. If they bat second, the team looks tentative. Losses in SA, in Edgbaston and now this test look eerily similar. The team is certainly fighting but they seem mentally weak.

This is potential for bigger problem in coming years if they don’t overcome it. The team lacks batting quality and players really aren’t growing up quickly enough.

I hope they overcome this pattern that that team has gotten into.

Agree, bunch of mental midgets. Bowlers have done their job in SA and Eng.

But batting failures continue from top 5. At crucial junctures they are unable to support each other to string those 150 - 200 run partnerships.

and it's not confined to overseas, sometimes at home the top and middle order have been bailed out by lower order.

I'm not sure if its a mental problem. Its much more of a skills problem in the batting dept.

When we beat Eng at home, 3 of the 4 tests were won batting second. Twice among those games, Eng scored 400+ in first inning and we responded ferociously. The same would happen now at home. That's about the current team.

Botham & Hussain mentioned an eerie stat: outside Asia, we have won 3 out of 61 games while chasing 200+ across the history of Indian cricket. So its not really a new team Kohli problem, its been an Indian problem and with our fragile batting it can't really improve all of a sudden.

Yeah people are behaving like this is something we are discovering for the first time and we were chase masters before. We struggled even at home against bowlers like Shaun Udal when we had our greatest batting line up. Michael Clarke, remember?

Some of the problems are age old inter alia letting the tailenders score, last 5 getting blown away while batting, making a superstar and hopelessly repeatedly getting screwed by same guy, never hunting collectively whether with bat or ball

Indian Cricket history is replete with such scenarios, whether 60s,70s,overrated Fab 4 era and now
