The Indian squad for the Asia Cup was announced on Saturday. Rohit Sharma was named the captain as Virat Kohli was rested after a hectic tour of England. The likes of Ambati Rayudu and Kedhar Jadhav made a return to the national team. However, Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh had his own reservations for the squad and wasn’t pleased with the same.

The off spinner felt that youngster Mayank Agarwal warranted a place in the squad. The 27-year-old did immensely well in the domestic season whether it was the Ranji Trophy or the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Even in the recent India A tour to England, the right-hander slammed two centuries. Thus, the Turbanator was of the opinion that Mayank deserved a chance.

Bhajji expressed his disappointment over the same on Twitter. Alongside blaming the selectors for not picking Agarwal, he also stated that there were different set of rules for other players. While it’s difficult to say whom were his comments directed to, he raised an important question in front of the selectors.

He tweeted, “Where is Mayank Agarwal ??? After scoring so many runs I don’t see him in the squad … different rules for different people I guess.”

Harbhajan Singh is currently a part of the Sky Sports team as a commentator in the ongoing Indian tour of England. It’s been a while since the off spinner played for India. He last featured in an international game way back in the 2016 Asia Cup against UAE. Currently with wrist spinners Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav dominating the spin department, it’s unlikely that Harbhajan will get another shot.

The Asia Cup is scheduled to begin from the 15th of September. India will be playing their first game against UAE on the 18th followed by the high voltage match against Pakistan the very next day.

This asia cup selection has been the worst. Why wasn't Shaw selected? He's not going to get any game in Eng, give him an opportunity here. While Shardul doing nothing gets selected. The less said about the has beens like Rayudu, Jadhav the better. Also DK can't do much against stronger teams, one match winning knock against Bangladesh and he gets a free pass for next 2 yrs. Dhoni ka toh we cant do anything till 2019 WC. Hacks like Axar, will keep getting selected due to mysterious reasons.

Axar is there due to Niranjan Shah for sure we either have to deal with Jadeja/Axar/Unadkat incredible isn’t it after 2011 WC we are recycling these failures again and again.
