Forget Dhoni, he's the first one to score a 100 in SENA! Eating crow. His byes are still a problem, but if he bats like this more responsibly he can replace Saha.

His byes are a problem because of the bowlers. He'll be fine. Yeah there were a couple instances apart from the dropped catch where he should have stopped. But overall he's some who needs to be invested in long term. Otherwise we will have revolving door of pappus and dks.

Most of those byes were either due to the ball swinging after passing the stumps and becoming unreachable or by unreachable wide balls by bowlers.  Two 4s were due to poor keeping.

Pant's agility is very good as a keeper ... but needs to improve his footwork and anticipation against pacers, especially when ball is moving.

His keeping has looked good against spinners so far.  And is good against high bouncing balls. That bodes well for games in Asia, Australia and SA.

Pant is a good keeper. He has very good reflexes. I think he needs to cut down on pre meditating the lines or delay a bit since his reflexes are fine.

how byes are problem when most of them were not his fault?

His keeping against pacers was fine. It is his first tour here where the ball moves so much. Most byes were wides in a fair world.

His keeping against jadeja in first innings  was very ordinary...second was okay.

Needs to move faster on his feet more than diving .

I hope he improves his keeping fast.

I think this innings must have soothed his nerves in front of the wicket .

No century in any format outside Asia with 170+ matches certainly has everything to do with ability rather than just coincidence.

Well no,many 90 odds, 80 odds, it's pure coincidence, something naysayers find it hard to digest.

Great innings :hatsoff:should be continued for 10-15 games on the trott...forget Saha, DK for now..

But seems like intention of the thread is to hate on Dhoni... Usual suspects all they are interested in how Pant scored Century and Dhoni did not...lol what retards....long long way to go to surpass Dhoni...

would be awesome for the team further ahead... still work in progress...should keep on improving..why stop at Dhoni only, should also aim for surpassing Gilchrist... that will help India win some games for sure...

well played Pant .His performance  today cured a lot of hurt caused by the utter lack luster performances  of Shastri( useless money sucking senseless drunkard leech moron ),Dhawan(tried and proven waste), Pujara  Rahul & Shami(all 3 far off from  being adequate) &

a regressing Rahane. Wishing all the good luck to him for  developing that temperament for coming tough assignments

SA was 90. 92 in England in 2007 is highest outside SC.

the point is he could not draw the test - his byes are bigger problem. Saha is better behind the stumps.

In batting he is good or better than other options.

Haven't u watch the match those byes were wides as no keeper wd hv reached there..

Plus this series was the toughest for the wicketkeeper. If he was abt avg here than we will be fine in normal conditions ..Plus he will learn along the way as well..

Saha is 34 years old .And cannot set the world on fire
