I think all these 3 guys have the game to succeed as middle order batters in ODIs.  All are good against spin and can rotate the strike.

 

Opening in test matches are slots for specialists  ...  not upper-middle order batters in ODIs.

Shaw is a very exciting ODI prospect ... because he is a very high SR batsman but also a high quality batsman.

 

The best kind one can find for ODIs.

 

Should have played the 5th test match in England ...  but conservative approach blocked his place as usual.

 

The pitch was flattish and he could have succeeded  ... his international career would have started and he would have got confidence.

Upper middle order also has it's limits, how many of them can play @ 1-4

And as all are quick starters, stroke players and can rotate the strike ... even No.5 is a possible slot.

I disagree, playing middle order is not that easy as you make it sound.

Not easy ...  but Rahul, Shaw and Mayank have the qualities needed for 4  or  5.

 

None of them can bat at 6 or 7.

 

Modern day ODI  No.4 and No.5  need batters who are quick starters, stroke players, have ability to play spin and pace and can rotate the strike as well.   There guys have these qualities.

True.. His name itself iduces nausea and sleep. Such a selfish boring douche he is. I know this is bad on my part but I pray he gets injured for 1-2 years and loses his place to someone. There is no other way this leech could be kept out of our squad
