Switchblade
Quote https://www.crictracker.com/virat-kohlis-outburst-press-conference-attributed-hurt-defeat-sunil-gavaskar/ From his batting’s perspective, Virat Kohli was a class apart from the other batters with 593 runs from five matches at an incredible average of 59.30. However, as far as the Indian team was concerned, Kohli didn’t have the best of times by any means. India lost the final Test at Kennington Oval in London by 118 runs and ended their rather abysmal campaign on English soil. Meanwhile, despite their losses, India are touted to possess the best touring team in the last 15 years. However, in the post-match press conference, a journalist raised questions over their credibility that somewhat agitated the 29-year-old Indian captain. Subsequently, the right-handed batsman lashed out at the journo, saying that it was the reporter’s own opinions. It was clear that the skipper was disappointed Nevertheless, Sunil Gavaskar, the former Indian skipper, said that the question from the journo wasn’t inappropriate, but its timing wasn’t correct as Kohli was severely hurt after India’s 1-4 drubbing. In the meantime, he also iterated that Ravi Shastri, India’s head coach, didn’t try to undermine the contribution of the earlier teams, which toured England. “That is probably the wrong time to ask him that question. He (Virat) must have been hurting from the defeat. Maybe the reporter was perfectly justified in asking that but I don’t think any skipper would have responded with a ‘you are right but we are wrong’ statement. To be honest, Ravi (Shastri) would have said that (best touring team in last 15 years) to lift the morale of the team. I don’t think so that he was trying to rubbish the earlier teams. That wasn’t the coach’s intention I believe,” Gavaskar was quoted as saying in India Today. “His team was 1-3 down and maybe he just wanted to end on a high. I don’t think that we should read too much into Virat’s reaction either. It was clear that the skipper was disappointed with what had happened and maybe he responded that way,” he added. nevada
I wonder what bubble boy would have done if someone had asked him about his choke jobs in the first and fourth tests. Probably thrown the table at the reporter yelling mc, bc loudly. Switchblade and UrmiSinhaRay 1 1 Link to comment
The Realist
Kohli simply does not have the temperament. tactical nous and match awareness to be a good captain. He always comes across as a bit of a simpleton in press conferences. GoldenSun, Turning_track and UrmiSinhaRay 2 1 Link to comment
Switchblade
Quote “He (Kohli) still has a lot to learn. Like we saw in South Africa earlier and now in England too, there were instances when right field placements or timely bowling changes made by him could have made a big difference. That was missing again. It has just been two years (he took over four years back) since he took over as a captain so at times the lack of experience shows,” Gavaskar told India Today news channel.
