Global.Baba
Rahul is still establishing himself in the ODI format and so far he has not done well at No.4. He will bat at 3 here but still once Kohli comes back he will be back to 4. Rahul's success in LOI's has come when he has opened the batting. On one hand like it or not, Rohit has been one of the best LOI openers of this decade but he has had experience at 4 in the past. In IPL too that is where he usually bats. A batting order of Dhawan Rahul Kohli Rohit on paper looks much more solid than Dhawan Rohit Kohli Rahul Dhawan-Rahul combo can accelerate much better than Rohit-Dhawan combo and Rohit can settle in the middle overs much faster by rotating strike than at the start when the ball is moving. I think this should be the way forward. He might receive flak like hiding from Amir etc but who cares in the larger scheme of things this might help us a lot more in getting our balance right. Tibarn
Rohit is one of the best ODI openers in the world. So is Dhawan. There is no reason to mess with their positions to facilitate Rahul. Rahul needs to earn his keep at 4(or 3 this series). Furthermore, Rohit has a poor record at 4. I doubt he will get used to it over the Asia cup and give similar performances to his as an opener. Nikola
No he goes no where when he comes at 4. He can't face spinners directly and is probably best opener in short formats in world right now so why mess with him? We already have many youngster who deserves spot at #4 and for worldcup i feel rahul will play there. Link to comment
