Switchblade
Quote https://www.crictracker.com/kamlesh-nagarkoti-to-go-to-london-for-back-trouble-treatment/ Kamlesh Nagarkoti, the 18-year-old speedster who stole attention during India’s successful stint at the Under-19 World Cup this year, has been coping with a back injury and will reportedly travel to London for treatment. Nagarkoti went to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) to recover from a fractured foot but during the process, his back problem seemed to have aggravated. Nagarkoti, who is one of the quickest among the upcoming bowlers, has played eight List A matches so far, picking up nine wickets. The player from Barmer, Rajasthan, made his List A debut against Mumbai in February 2017. He picked up nine wickets in six games in the U-19 World Cup in New Zealand in January at an average of 16.33. He was also picked up by the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for this year’s Indian Premier League for Rs 3.2 crore though he didn’t play any game because of a foot injury. NCA physio to accompany Nagarkoti As per a report in the Mumbai Mirror, Kamlesh Nagarkoti will be accompanied by NCA physiotherapist Yogesh Parmar to London to see consultants for the back problem. There is still no confirmation whether any surgery will be required. “We’ve decided on a plan for Kamlesh, the NCA officials are looking into it. He will go to London soon,” a BCCI official was quoted as saying by the Mirror. The decision was taken after the player underwent check-ups. Nagarkoti’s consistent pace has impressed former international players like Sourav Ganguly and Ian Bishop though he hasn’t played any competitive game since Vijay Hazare Trophy in February this year. Nagarkoti, along with the likes of Shivam Mavi and Shubman Gill, has been the latest sensation in Indian cricket with their superior performance in the U19 World Cup where they did not lose a single game and defeated teams like Australia (twice) and Pakistan. However, while Gill and Mavi, also picked by the KKR, got chances to display their skills in the IPL, Nagarkoti is yet to return to the field to showcase his talent. He suffered this injury after U19 tour to England last year but he recovered by the time U19 WC started. Anyway back injuries are part of young tearaway quicks. Most suffer them and still do well in their career likes of Brett Lee, Johnson, Starc, Yadav, Aaron all had them multiple times. Always prepare for injuries in case of tearaways and keep backups. Looks like this has been an early detection and will be handled well. Mosher, UrmiSinhaRay and Suhaan 2 1 Link to comment
