 .... and Ind has won more ICC events than Pak .... let's not forget the test ranking too 

 

Pak is more like a minnow. Apart from T20s, it is not ranked among the top 4 sides in either ODIs or Tests

Rankings reflect long term performance .... and the minnow status of Pak .... we have won so many ICC events including 2 WCs and 2 CTs so it does not matter much in the larger scheme of things. it is good to provide some encouragement to minnows (and its fans)

Neither this win nor the CT league match win nor the CT final loss, mean much to us.

 

Looking at the people in India ... the interest that was there in the 1990s and 2000s, in the India Pakistan cricket  matches, seem to be largely gone.

 

Mohammed Amir is the only known Pakistani player among the general public. I asked a few people who the Pakistani captain was and most did not know.

 

Only the World Cups make the general public interested in these matches these days.   The India England test series, especially the 3rd test win,  drew a lot more public interest than this Asia Cup.
