Rajasthan pacer Deepak Chahar has been added to India squad as a cover for injured Hardik Pandya for the ongoing Asia Cup 2018, a report in The Times of India suggests. The right-arm pacer was a part of the India T20I squad for the series against England and made his debut in the third and the final match, finishing with figures of 43/1. He was recently part of India A in the quadrangular series.

 

With Chahar being added to the squad, Rajasthan will miss out on the services of their prime pacer in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Chahar came into the reckoning after the right-arm pacer scalped 10 wickets while playing for Chennai Super Kings in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018.

He was named in India A squad for the tri-series in England, where he scalped 10 wickets in four games. An injury to Jasprit Bumrah against Ireland opened the gates for Chahar and he was added to the T20I side for England series.

 

Meanwhile, Pandya suffered an injury during the tie against Pakistan. The 24-year-old all-rounder fell during his followthrough while bowling and had to be stretchered out of the field. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) did give an update on him but it is yet to confirmed whether he will be fit for India's next game against Bangladesh.

 

Should Pandya fail to recover well in time, Chahar might be handed a debut ODI cap straightaway against Bangladesh. India will face Bangladesh (September 21), Pakistan (September 23) and Afghanistan (September 25) in their top four ties.

 

On Wednesday, the Rohit Sharma-led team registered an emphatic win over Pakistan in a one-sided affair as they chased down a target of 163 in mere 29 overs. Bhuvneshwar Kumar was adjudged the Man of the Match for his spell of 7-1-15-3.

Arey kuch bhi ho,this has to be the most corrupt phase of Indian cricket where this good for nothing influential oldie is ruling the roost,badly wait for his ouster(retirement)

Nothing will change.. Either koi aur aa jayega + Dhoni will himself hang around like That Leech Shastri for power.

The should just change the jersey color to yellow and rename the indian cricket team to Csk so that genuine crickets fans can just stop caring about it.

They needed someone who can bat to replace Pandya and Chahar is an okay replacement for him. Can play big shots.
