Switchblade
Quote https://www.crictracker.com/sunil-gavaskar-wants-ravindra-jadeja-indias-odi-set-made-excellent-comeback/ Gavaskar prefers Jadeja over Patel Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar spoke in favour of Jadeja after his performance and sought his inclusion in India’s ODI set-up as an all-rounder over players like Patel. His all-round skills came to the fore during the recent Test series in England as well where he got to play just one game at The Oval. Besides taking seven wickets, the 29-year-old slammed an unbeaten 86 in the first innings to keep his team in the game. “I think Ravindra Jadeja merits his place because I believe he is a better bowler, batsman and fielder but what the selection committee thinks, we will see in the next few months,” Gavaskar was quoted as saying by India Today. The left-arm spinner reappeared for India in ODIs after July 2017 and will look forward to making use of this vital phase in the run-up to the ICC World Cup in England in May-July next year. He has taken 159 wickets in 137 ODIs till date at an average of 35.15 with a solitary five-wicket haul. Jadeja’s batting key to India’s success: Bhogle Speaking to Cricbuzz, Harsha Bhogle said, “Today India is completely reliant on Hardik Pandya. No Pandya there is Bhuvneshwar Kumar at No 7. You are really struggling. Some of the pitches in England might be trying which might tempt India to play both Jadhav and Jadeja. I may not need to play Hardik. I have got an option at 7. So you can play 3 spinners and 2 pacers and vice versa. “If you get one of them batting at 7 it is a huge advantage. Some days you might have Hardik at 7 and someday you will have Jadeja at 7,” Bhogle added. Harsha Bhogle also believes that if both Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja are in the team, Kedar Jadhav finds no place in his playing XI. However, former New Zealand bowler Simon Doull disagreed with Bhogle on this matter, saying that India would stick to a conservative approach and play the extra batsman. Jadhav is also useful with the ball, especially with his round arm action which cuts out bounce. India are currently defending their Asia Cup title in the UAE. They will next take on the Windies at home before travelling to Australia for a lengthy series. https://www.crictracker.com/ravindra-jadeja-brings-lot-balance-team-india-says-harsha-bhogle/ UrmiSinhaRay 1 Link to comment

bowl_out
Of course, Jadeja over Patel any day.. Like I mentioned in another thread, Jadeja gives the flexibility to play different combinations from 7-11 (if required). Axar doesn't give the confidence that he can be a strike bowler himself. And I think it is too late to consider Krunal among the top 5.. he is the sixth bowler at best, so doesn't fit into this discussion Hardik, Jadeja, Kuldeep, Bhuvi, Bumrah Jadeja, Kuldeep, Khaleel, Bhuvi, Bumrah Hardik, Kuldeep, Chahal, Bhuvi, Bumrah is still our starting combination. GolGappe
Here is a thought Jadeja vs Jadhav for number 6 Fielding: Jadeja significantly ahead. Bowling: Jadeja ahead. Batting: Jadhav marginally ahead. Given how crappy Kulcha and Bumrah are as batsmen, does this switch shorten the batting even more? On the flip side, this covers the sixth bowling option really well. Edited September 26, 2018 by GolGappe UrmiSinhaRay 1 Link to comment
