Khaleel Ahmed is probably the biggest takeaway from this tournament for us

He has bowled several deliveries 140+ and he is just 20, also bowling a lot slower than he actually can.

Yeah gotta the feeling that he is using his brains and varying his pace and length. Only problem

is from watching the game, his normal average speeds seem to be in the mid to high 130s. Will definetely do well in England, but for Aus tour he needs to up his speeds.

But he seems to have good bowling acumen similar to guys like Bumrah or Shami when they started.

can he bowl quicker or is this a case of him bowling according to the conditions? If that is the case it is still impressive.

Khaleel can bowl quicker. His quickest has been 145k on this tour but have seen him clocking 148k in domestic cricket. Early days in his career but he has already shown that he is a smart bowler. He has a good yorker, bouncer and slower ball. Can bowl round the wicket without losing control. He should get more games now. Want to see how he performs against better teams.

His action and run up just echoes how perfectly raw he is for international who just has perfect mix of a newbie and a player who belongs in international arena who will improve as soon as he has more overs under his record.  Just let him grind out more and more in these 50 overs in the next few series for India. Play him and see the good results which he will bring for us.

I like what he has shown so far. And is expected to become better and bowl quicker more often esp. if the conditions allow ..., we have the following LOI series coming up

* vs WI in Ind

* In Aus

* In NZ

* vs Aus in Ind

* IPL

* WC19

So we need a big pool of talented pace bowlers to avoid fatigue and have them bowling at full steam! We cannot stick to a system which plays same bowlers match after match esp against less fancied opponents

Wish, we had picked Saini and Rajpoot instead of Chahar and Kaul. Kaul is too short and also lacks any pace to be effective at the international level.  Chahar wont do anything if ball is not swinging.

Is he shorter than Hassan Ali? He kind of reminded me of him in the IPL. Short but skiddy.I don’t rate those kind of bowlers that is why was surprised with Ali’s success even though looks like normalcy has been restored there atleast for now.

Khaleel was bowling consistently above 145+ late last year in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, the peak he clocked was148 k.Infact he was bowling a little quicker in his first game,fastest being 145k.

Last night he bowled few deliveries at 143k but his average speed was around 136-138 k imo..

It may be due to dhongi effect he was bowling well within himself

Another reason maybe he was bowling in the second innings of the match that day against the first innings yesterday,so scorching heat may have affected him bowling at sub 140k deliveries..but rest assured he can bowl 145+ but tends to bowl too many slower ones..

Just his first international outing. No fast bowler starts bowling flat out in the first outing. Will increase his pace in the next 1 yr. He is bound to be quicker and better quality with time. Having said that, he is still a 90mph+ bowler.

I thought the same as well, in fact going allout on these placid tracks and in this heat is stupid.

Probably one of the reasons Pakistani phaaasht boilers got a rude awakening. Bumrah is an exception though. He is a cut above anyone right now.

On these tracks smart bowling is required and by that not like Bhuvi going to his dumb knuckle ball when in doubt. Indian pacers over the years have had pace,swing,seam,stamina,fitness but most of them have lacked basic bowling acumen.Khaleel is young and can improve every other aspect but best thing he has right now is brains.That is half the victory right there.

 Surely can bow quicker, Yesterday was bowling well within himself might be a heat factor still clocked 143kph and quite a few deliveries around 142kph as well,  starc was of similar pace when he started also have seen him bowl up to 148kph in recently concluded mushtaq Ali trophy.

Moreover, the most satisfying aspect of his bowling was the around the wicket yorkers and deceptive slower balls and cutters he bowled yesterday which can compliment bumrah well and ease some of the pressure off him.

He has performed enough to earn him a place in west indies series, let's wait n see how he goes.
