Still time to craft a good WC19 squad

Below are LOI tourneys before the WC, where we can still work out the optimal combination:

  • vs WI in Ind
  • in Aus
  • in NZ
  • vs AUS in Ind
  • IPL

So that is 4 series + IPL

More or less confirmed players:

  • Batsmen + WK: Kohli, Rohit, Dhawan, Jadhav and Dhoni
  • Pacebowlers: Bumrah and Bhuvi
  • ARs: Hardik
  • Spinners: Kuldeep and Chahal

Still 5 slots are open:

  • Batsmen + WK (2-3 slots): Shaw, Gill, Pant, Rahul, ....
  • Pace Bowlers (2 slots): Khaleel, Shami,  ....
  • AR Spinner (0-1 slot): Krunal, Jadeja, ....

One gets a sense of the final 15 by the way players are getting selected

(Its not the team i wish , this is what i make out reading selectors/TM  selections)  :

Openers  1& 2 :  Rohit , Dhavan

No.3 : -     Virat

No.4 :    Looking for a player who is better player of spin - Raydu - other contender - DK .

No.5 - WK - MSD

No.6 -  Kedar Jadhav

No.7 -  2nd WK + Batsman  -  DK .

No.8 - Additional reserve batsmen cum reserve opener - K L rahul  .

No.9 - Pace allrounder -  Hardik

No.10 - Spin allrounder -  Jadeja

No.11 -  Wrist spinner  - Kuldeep

No.12 -  Wrist spinner - Chahal

No.13 - Pace bowler - Bhumra .

No.14 - Pace Bowler  - Bhuvi .

No.15 - Pace bowler - ???

Since DK doubles up as a better player of spin  category (as per them)+ WK , he may edge out Raydu.

That may open up one more place for a pace bowler .

So barring injury or really bad form ..   only 2 places to be finalised - those of 2 pacers and out of that

1 may go to Khaleel if he comes up well.

No point in crying , tearing our hair ...

This is going to happen .

Just wait & See.

Having time matters only when intent is there.

Intent is not there.

Too much politics and nepotism going on in Team selections.

This is the depressing thing.  Even 2015 was winnable for us. But the cover-story works for most fans - hey we made the semi-finals.

Making the semi-finals, when there are only 4 decent ODI teams on the planet, is a default, not an achievement.

Dhoni needs to go.  Rishabh should have been given maximum games to be groomed.  Instead the team used Hardik Pandya's hitting to paper over the power deficit in the lower order, and give "long rope" to Dhoni and similar washed-up players - Yuvi, Karthik, Rayudu.

KL Rahul should be batting at #3, with Rohit Sharma given clear instructions to not eat balls up front.  Essentially have 3 openers up top.  Kuptaan Wrogn should recognize that the team batting order works better if he controls the middle overs from the #4 s lot.

But, nobody cares.  Let the pampered top 3 keep their slots like its baap ki jaagir.  who cares about making the team better, and getting ready to be at its best for the WC.

And don't forget ever since the 2007 WC exit, we are given entries into the quarter final by default so we just need to win one match basically to make the semi final. That's not even an achievement.

What ya say folks?

All very young and unproven, maybe that doesnt matter and their youth, optimism and fearlessness would be a plus.

these players will definitely be playing in the wc. unless injury or some god forsaken thing happens.

rohit, dhawan, kohli, dhoni, hardik, chahal, kuldeep, bhuvi and bumrah...

Dhoni is too selfish and he's not going anywhere. So realistically only 2 spots left.......i throw kl rahul and rishabh pant's name into the mix....but with csk quota in full swing expect fitness freak kedhar jadhav to fill the remaining spot....

Top order is settled.

Bowling unit is settled. 2 pacers, 2 spinners and hardik.

And dhoni he isn't going anywhere unless he himself retires which again is not happening.

Only batting spots 4 and 5 are to be filled. Id give it to kl rahul at 4 and honestly i don't care who is at #5 because at this point of time it is not going to make much of a difference in the WC.
