SecondSlip Posted October 5, 2018 Share Posted October 5, 2018 Actor Anushka Sharma, the wife of India’s cricket captain, Virat Kohli, is a common sight on the team’s overseas tours. Now, alarming reports have emerged that many members of the Indian cricket team are uncomfortable with Anushka’s presence at team discussions and meetings. A Hindi daily on Thursday quoted an unnamed Indian player as saying that not everything is hunky dory within Team India and players are miffed that Anushka is at times part of the batting discussions that Kohli has with his teammates. The report further claimed that during the recent England tour, Anushka had a major showdown with Shikhar Dhawan’s wife Ayesha Mukherjee. Anushka, apparently, offered unsolicited personal advice to that didn’t go down well with the latter. This altercation between the two star wives, the report hints, was the reason why Shikhar Dhawan was dropped for the Test series against West Indies, despite him having scoring 342 runs in 5 matches in the Asia Cup. A BCCI official, however, has denied any rift in the team because of Anushka. She is fitter than Shastri ... does not sleep during matches like Shastri ... drinks much less than Shastri ... is not a yes-person to Kohli ... is always around ... and if the reports are correct, she managed to remove Dhawan from the test team, something which Kohli did not want to do and the selectors could not.
