Switchblade
Quote https://www.crictracker.com/rishabh-pants-footwork-behind-the-stumps-is-not-good-syed-kirmani/ Pant not adept behind the stumps: Kirmani Syed Kirmani, although impressed with Pant’s approach to batting, feels the youngster has a lot of room for improvement as a wicketkeeper. Speaking to Indian Express he said, “He reminded me of MS Dhoni when I first heard of him. He was a terrific hitter of the ball but not that technically adept behind the stumps. He worked on his shortcomings and look where that took him.” “Pant’s footwork behind the stumps is not good. He does not move with the ball, instead dives at the last moment. These will take time. My main point is, look at the young keepers in the country. How will they learn? You have specific coaches for each and every position except for such a specialist role,” he added. Kirmani was pleased to see the fearlessness with which Rishabh Pant bats, no matter what format of the game he plays. “Pant’s gung-ho approach to batting is quite refreshing to watch. He should not change the way he plays the game. That may lead to trouble. What he should, however, look at is conversion. The classic example today was Virat Kohli at the other end. When he got set, he ensured he reached a century. You should not miss out after doing all the hard work,” he concluded. tweaker, Rasgulla, UrmiSinhaRay and 1 other 1 1 2 Link to comment

vvvslaxman
He was very very bad. He has to practice a lot. His stumping is okay. Not very dissimilar from Dhoni. But catching? Man imagine those were drops of Butler and Stokes. UrmiSinhaRay 1 Link to comment
Pollack
"He does not move with the ball, instead dives at the last moment." Wtf I have a complete opposite view. He moves with the ball far too early and eventually has to deal with it with dives because of misjudgements. He actually needs to stop moving a lot and trust his reflexes a lot more. rkt.india, raki05, UrmiSinhaRay and 2 others 1 4 Link to comment

When he started he was dropping a lot. THen he became a fine keeper. But Pant even by beginners standard is very poor. May be sometime watching Saha could help him. UrmiSinhaRay 1 Link to comment
DHONI_FANN
This is sheer chewtiapa. Why criticising this young guy in the open? Will this do any good to his morale? beetle 1 Link to comment

He even demonstrated in a video about how he did that. UrmiSinhaRay and DHONI_FANN 1 1 Link to comment

Unleashed
Does anyone remember Dhoni's keeping in the series of 2007 or 2011 where he was absolutely horrendous? Not worried about Pant, I was impressed with his keeping for the spinners, regardless he's good enough to get into the team as batsman. Laaloo, UrmiSinhaRay and beetle 1 2 Link to comment
nevada
Saha is probably the last "specialist" wicket keeper on the scene. All the newer keepers focus more on batting because that is their meal ticket. Whether it is Pant or Kishan or someone else, keeping glitches will be there. Pant has already been working with More to improve his keeping. Let's hope he learns fast and fixes the issues he has. UrmiSinhaRay 1 Link to comment
