zen
With its pace attack expected to be back, relatively good fielding standards and home conditions, Aus will start as favorites in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy If we appraise team Ind, its case to win is more based on hope than merits considering the following candidates for a place in the squad (16-18 members): Candidates: Batting: Shaw, Rahul, Pujara, Kohli, Rahane, Vihari and Agarwal WKs: Pant and Saha (if fit) Pace Bowlers: Bumrah, Shami, Ishant, Yadav, Siraj, and Pandya (AR) Medium Pacers: Bhuvi Spinners: Ashwin, Jadeja and Kuldeep Green = Top, Blue = Above Avg, Orange = Wild Card / Game Changer, Purple = Question Mark In their respective domains, only Kohli (batting), Bumrah (Bowling) and Saha (WK) inspire confidence of consistency In batting, Rahul and Rahane are type of players who are expected to do well in such conditions but have a tendency to "throw" it away at crucial junctures. May end up with a couple of 50s in the series .... Pujara would need to translate his rhythm in to good to big scores .... Shaw, Vihari and Pant are new Pant as WK: Since he would be keeping to pace bowlers most of the time, his glove work would be relatively safe. But still has a question mark In pace bowling, Ishant struggles to pick up wkts on consistent basis. Yadav is hot or cold. Shami loses steam. While Siraj is new. Pandya is an AR Medium pacers: no comments Spinners: Apart from Sydney, their work would be cut out at other venues In fielding, Aus may take a few blinders, while we may drop some straightforward chances .... No need to say that we would have to play excellent cricket to draw or win the series Link to comment

zen
If Ind is going to lose, I want the following 11 as it will weed out some of the players (and ideas) and help us to focus on more optimal players (and concepts) once the World Test Championship starts after ODI WC19 Rahul -> talent + consistency? Shaw (new) Pujara Kohli Rahane -> done and dusted or still viable? Vihari (new) Pant (new) Jadeja / Ashwin - how useful as a spinner in SENA? Bhuvi -> useful in swinging conditions. If not successful, it could potentially put a full stop on his test career which ironically started in Aus. And we finally start to move away from trundlers (hopefully) Ishant / Shami -> consistency / fitness Bumrah By playing the extra batsmen (w/o optimizing the batting, it would not help), we could also potentially tire the bowlers out (if they don't clean up Aus relatively quickly) .... Double whammy! Edited October 7, 2018 by zen Link to comment

The Realist
Does not matter how weak Aus are, Ind record there is abysmal and unlikely to change given that they barely win one test on any overseas tour that and that occurs when the series is over. More chance of Cheerleader staying sober than Aus losing the series. nevada, Switchblade, Frustrated and 1 other 4 Link to comment
nevada
Only the margin of defeat is up for discussion, the series result isn't. This sorry bunch of losers will most likely play fearless cricket and lose big again. Why fear when there is no accountability? Lose big and still talk big works fine, so why change it? raki05 1 Link to comment
diga
Aus may start as favs, but we do have a slightly better chance than last tour there... Our results will depend on top order batting & onfield captaincy Link to comment
Jimmy Cliff
They would've been overwhelming favourites with Smith and Warner in the side but not right now. Fully expect us to win this time as long as our first choice players are available . Link to comment
Lala
India will be favorites. India always prepare and have practice series with minnows before start a taugh series. Link to comment

Thakur is generally picked in the tourist quota. Bumrah/Ishant/Shami/Bhuvi are all ahead of Umesh in the pecking order. Don't know much about Lambu Aata.
