If he keeps on going like this and retires at the right age without stretching like a gum, he'll end up with 60+ avg in both tests and ODIs.

Obviously his peak will end in next 2 - 3 years. Yes he will still be good batsman after peak but i doubt he will retire at 35 instead 38 looks possible.

If he enjoys a late surge like Sanga, then he could very well achieve this plus 100 centuries.

Used to go gaga over his average and centuries. But it all means nothing if he doesn't put up good scores in knockouts and 4th innings chases overseas.

Failed in all knockout matches in 2011wc and 15wc, and though has done well overseas in tests, but fails to win matches when the going gets tough.

In Adelaide test in 2014, choked at the end.

In South Africa 2018, failed in 4th innings chasing in first two tests.

In England, needed him the most in the first test and 4th test, but as usual choked.

He got two two more tests coming up in the next one year, Australia and World Cup. Let's see what he is upto.

His stats since 2016 are bradman kind of stats.

He made 3000 runs in 46 innings at avg of 90+ and there isn't even anybody close to him in world. Root, Kane, Smith & Warner are no way near him.

This kind of sustained brilliance over 3 years is unprecedented.

Rohit Sharma has been brilliant too. Average of 70. A bit under rated only because of Kohli's extra ordinary streak.

Obviously with such performance anyone will be under shadow but still avg difference of 20 is alot imo. Rohit trying to finish games and remain not out these days and his avg might boost in next year or two. Good stuff for for Indian cricket. Dhawan must improve conversion rate.

Amazing we are seeing something special and we don't realise it because he keeps on doing it so often. Chasing a 320 with a commanding century like this would have been a remarkable feat some time back but is an everyday affair with Kohli.

Of course this is not the most challenging opposition but having watch him bat he is at his absolute best. The way he is holding form while hitting and his balance is just too good. When he came in to bat there were a few difficult overs to face and he just managed it so well.

He is also applying his learning from all other formats so well. He was playing outside the crease to counter the swing of Anderson etc. and he played similarly vs. Holder and really took the attack to him. His best shot was a tuck in walking down to Holder that just raced away to square leg.

He was coming after a break having not played the Asia Cup and he was just bang on from the first ball.

Some people were talking about replacing Rohit with Rahul. Rahul is not even in the same ballpark as Rohit Sharma.Rohit has been just awesome along with Dhawan.

I believe Raul will be rohit level in odis in next 3 years ,but that depends if he gets the opening slot .opening has become very easy in odis
