Virat Kohli has matured, quality of cricket wins you matches not sledging - Ravi Shastri

“At the end of the day, it’s the cricket that talks. I didn’t care if a McGrath or a Warne did say something or didn’t say something, they would have still taken wickets,” the Indian head coach said during the opening media interaction on Sunday.

“It’s as simple as that. When you can do what you are good at and do it consistently, it doesn’t matter, which side you are playing for. That cricketer will do well and so will the team,” said Shastri.

“He (Kohli) is a professional and he has matured. You saw him four years ago (2014-15) and he has played all round the globe since then and captained the side. And that alone comes with a tag of responsibility which has fit well on his shoulders and he has adjusted extremely well but he will not take his foot off the gas,” the head coach explained what will be India skipper’s approach.

“He loves coming to Australia. He is passionate about his game. Pitches suit his style of play. And once you have done well here, you want to come and play again. It’s a great place to come and play cricket.

“They play hard and the sporting public appreciates good, tough cricket. It doesn’t matter which side wins and as long as I have been coming to Australia. I have seen people love it, whether it’s media, people at the ground or those watching on television,” said Shastri.

Every coach is paid lower, why pay higher to Indian coach? Cut down his salary to less than half of what he is getting now and then his statement will make sense.

prime example of huge amount of money wasted in the utmost  useless way....' Indian coaching & Sastri '

Shastri needs to be fired ASAP , you cannot have a head coach who is okay with mediocrity.

Shastri you moro*n we are aiming to next super team after Australia and West Indies and you are saying losing is fine.

Why blame shastri alone, shastri was bought in by the system only. If half of them were against him ...half were in favour

We have resources to be Next Aus n WI or atleat close to them but only if we use them.....those team had aggresive mindset ours is conservative

Pakistan too had resources but had a self destructive approach

Its about putting resources to their best use.....

Both captain n coach are huge part of the problem but not the alone problem, the whole system is suffering from a conservative mindset which refuses to believe that they have the resources to achieve the goal instead they wanna play safe 1st

Shastri , Kohli and selectors have methodically ignored and played to the cliques, did not play or nurture younger talent, and the squad has stagnated forever, Dhoni was the culprit and now things haven't changed.

Our Odi squad needed a revamp 4 to 5 years back but nothing happened, we keep choosing have been and proven failures.Guys we have Soo much young talent but no way to get into the side as interests are protected and selectors are effing hijras.

Dhoni still playing Odi cricket is a shame as he hasn't performed for last 5 years, just because that mother *er dreams of playing next world cup he is persisted with, what's the accountability factor.

The whole sport is being held on ransom, Shastri was the biggest loser and the most selfish player when he played fr India so what can we expect.

Shastri survived as a player for too long and now as coach... He has some divine power keeping him safe
