No I would not drop Pant, I would drop Pandya and stay away from guy like him.They are no good.Pant is the guy who needs to be given chances not guy like Pandya who will take not this team anywhere.His batting is the last thing this team needs.

as much as i wanna back pant

but team combination requires to all rounder so one batsman has to be dropped dk/pant (dk did well so m being fair to him)

 

even if u drop pandya u still play 5 bowler which is a wrong startegy coz one bowler gets beating and u hve no back up

Look at scorecard .....2 bowlers got a beating today out of 5....so ur idea will still fizzle

It's a huge factor to have some one like Yuvi who was prolific ODI cricketer for most part of his career.Someone who can win matches on his own batting innings and does the bowling job pretty well for someone batting in specialist batsman position.His bowling was more than bonus,it was very effective in some matches, especially in WC2011 where I think he was one of the highest wicket taker.

I don't think now a days team can afford bits and pieces players like Pandya, you need five proper bowlers and a batsman who can fill in if one of them has bad day. Hardik will come in place DK or Rahul. Pant has to play every game.

Team can overcome one bowler having bad day from their top five but if Pandya is one of them they will have to account for two which is not needed as Pandya with bat will hardly be needed.Indian team needs bowlers who can bat not batsmen who can bowl at the spot Pandya is batting.

It will still be relevant if at least one of our batsmen who bat in specialist batting positions are able to bowl.Strategically Dhoni tried this experiment with Kedar Jadhav.The NZ ODI series in India which I specifically remember.Think that will be considered as strategy sometimes again, either with same player or someone else who can bowl in top 5 or 6.

Jadhav dont happen every day and jadhav himself has been in injury ward more then half a year

look at next line of batsman

Shaw- doesnt bowl

gill - doesnt

Iyer- a bit

hooda- a bit

rana- a bit

 

but iyer, hooda, rana will 1st have to earn place as batsman which i dnt see them doing as of now against their competition

Hardik himself needs cushion of 6th bowler

 

Playing only 5 bowler is a wrong strategy n only 4 in test is wrong

Totally agree.Apart from Jadhav the options are lacking.Thats the job of selectors and planning is required at various level s and individuals of TM and thereby is a failure in being well equipped for a strategical ploy.

At max they can tell hooda, nair, vihari, iyer, rana to bowl more in domestic 

 

 

 

but at 1st they ll have to earn place as batsman which i dnt see them doing in LOI ahead of shaw, gill, pant , rahul rest kohli, rohit, dhawan are fixed 

 

Solution is play both pandya bros....they give each other cushion in bowling and develop them by playing more n more...this is why Mumbai Indian do so well 

 

N if one is injured have someone like shankar n start selecting dube to A-games and see how good or bad he is

I have said this before there is a batsman who can bowl decently and a bowler who can bat decently. That is a definition of allrounder in the pure sense.

 

There is no “specialist” allrounder unless it is gully cricket where the bully gets to do whatever he wants and when he wants.

 

I still have no clue what the Pandya brother’s speciality is even though their batting skill is marginally better than their bowling.
