think Aus  has selected most of these players  randomly from streets and gave short term temporary membership into their first class teams  just for the sake of  this so called practice match.Moron Shastri all the while  would be swimming in pools of drinks so that what ever be a bit consciousness left in him would be drained fully  by now. So  the only hope remains  is on the natural ability and the mental toughness  of the players along with some luck(which completely eluded in ENG with toss)  to come out at least with a narrow win.

Indian money set to go down gurgler at soggy SCG

India face the prospect of splashing out $25,000 only to see it literally washed down the drain as dark clouds gather over the SCG.

Meteorologists are predicting Sydney will cop an astonishing two months worth of rainfall in the next 24 hours.

It means India’s only Test warm-up, due to start on Wednesday, is all but certain to be a complete wash-out.

Not only is the dire forecast a massive blow to India’s preparations to face Australia in the first Test in Adelaide next week, but to add insult to injury, the cricketing powerhouse may also take a cheeky hit in the back pocket as well.

India lobbied hard to change the tour match against the Cricket Australia XI from a three-day fixture starting Thursday to a proper four-day game, beginning a day earlier.

However, to make the late change happen, early discussions with CA centred around the BCCI footing the bill for the extra day of ground hire.

It’s understood costs associated with putting on a match at the SCG, such as employing security and catering requirements, adds up to about $25,000 a day.

Adding to India’s frustrations would be the fact Cricket Australia has picked a particularly underwhelming touring side to face them with the majority unknown youngsters who can’t make their Sheffield Shield sides and have played less than five first-class matches a pop.

India might well ask, what are they paying for?

That is loose change for the cashed-up BCCI, but they are not an outfit that takes kindly to having their preparations stuffed around.

Back in 2011-12 India threatened to walk out on a practice game in Canberra because there was rain forecast.

Cricket Australia XI captain Sam Whiteman is hoping his unheralded team of rookies can join forces with mother nature in “spoiling” India’s preparations.

“It’s meant to pour down tomorrow, isn’t it? Could be a long day sitting in the sheds,” Whiteman said.

“For us to play the world No.1 Test side is a huge opportunity.

“It would be awesome (to give them a run for their money), that’s the aim.

“The wicket is looking a tinge of green out there so pressure is going to be on. They’re all going to expect to pile on the runs and we’re going to try and stop them in their tracks.

“The idea is to challenge the Indians and spoil their preparations a bit.”

Explosive Aussie T20 opener D’Arcy Short will bat in the top three for the CA XI and Whiteman is giving his West Australian teammate licence to smash from ball one.

Short made 257 for WA in a 50-over game this summer and will launch himself at India’s bowlers in a bid to throw them off their rhythm.

“If you’ve got D’Arcy, he’s one of those guys who can score a hundred in a session,” Whiteman said.

“It’s hard as a fielding side if he gets on top and there’s no reason why he can’t do that this week.”

Whiteman made it clear the CA XI underdogs will be going hard at Indian master Virat Kohli, making him their prime target.

“It’d be pretty cool sitting around the barbie at Christmas being able to drop that,” he said.

“Any Indian wicket would be a prized scalp.”

Cannot believe an international team only lined up one practise game against a bunch of kids.

Next time the Aussies or any Sena team visit. We should draft a school team to play the practice game.

Sorry but its Indias fault, all the state teams are playing this week and most of them are playing to get ready for the India test series, it's not our fault. your team is being arrogant by only playing one match and that too they knew this may happen.

Apart from Short, Bryant and Coleman, I never heard of these players. I am not sure if they even represent their state teams. Kohli better not reduce the number of playing days because of his bloated ego.

Everyone are playing in Sheffield shield

You mean all the teams are playing to get ready for the test series.

India should give them a muhalla team to practice when they come and have it in Cherrapunji if possible.

Sam Whiteman is the best of all those. It's a very poor playing 11 they are playing.

It is  Indian team management's fault only...Only 1 practice match   and they have the time to play meaning less t20 games before such an important series!!!!!. Even they could bring along with them  quality  players from domestic   and form 2 teams among themselves and play a few 4 day matches... No doing all these things and putting the blame on the host team does not  make any sense what so ever.

That bastard moron Shastri should be caught hold of the collar and given a hard slap on his face .....For playing with the emotions of so many ardent fans across the country .... Only 1 practice match and even that seems a mere formality!!!!!!!

Kuttey ki dum...these imbeciles or should i say incompetent Board + management can't get to secure couple of tour games instead of T20 circus games.... just like how they screwed SA and Eng prep...and have audacity to claim the team is best traveler. I won't be surprised if the result is as bad as Eng but hey we still played better than previous Indian teams.

Shaw is a must , he does two things, if he gets a start he will give Sehwag type momentum to innings. Vijay and Rahul have not been giving any starts.Dhawan is useless.

That’s the early momentum you need. It will either be a quick fire 50+ or a wicket. The batsmen coming after him can take time and consolidate. I hope Bewda and gang do not change his game.
