Austin 3:!6
Rohit Sharma's career took a total U-turn in ODIs after he started opening. So it may worth a try in test cricket as well. He is a total failure in the middle order but a shot at opening may rejuvenate his test career. With Lokesh Rahul not in form, I would open with Shaw and Rohit for 1st 2 tests at-least and see how it goes. The Dark Horse, Kothili, sandsaims and 2 others 1 4 Link to comment
Nikola
Given the way rahul is batting rohit won't do worse than him and if he survives in one of 3 or 4 innings then he has chance to get 100 as well but idk if it will happen when you already have good replacement of opener in vijay. Nikola
There is one more thing when there is flat pitch he or any #6 won't get chance to score hundred cause team would be 550-5 and would want quick 40-50 runs from them to declare. On green pitch where other batsman fails you expect #6 batsman to handle such pressure and bat with tail isn't easy for test cricket. This is reason players like gilly, vvs are bigger match winner for me. Edited November 29, 2018 by Nikola UrmiSinhaRay and vvvslaxman 2 Link to comment

Suhaan
White ball cricket is different to what we see in tests, Openers have a job to see off the new ball, whatever little movement is there Bowlers try to use it to their advantage,Rohit is a monster in white ball cricket but becomes a sheep whenever the ball deviates even by a margin of 1mm,one can argue who is not? If rohit has to play ,he should/ rather say TM should stay away from making Rohit open the innings UrmiSinhaRay 1 Link to comment

Khota
I will have Rohit over rahul and Vijay. My first choice is Dhawan and Rohit. And yes I know the difference between formats. Laaloo, sarcastic, Ankit_sharma03 and 3 others 1 5 Link to comment
philcric
Genius idea. Rishabh Pant or Hardik Pandya should open with him and both openers should take advantage of the swing of the brand new red ball bowled by 2 of opposition's best fast bowlers when they are fresh. Can't wait. Nikola, Clarke, UrmiSinhaRay and 3 others 1 1 4 Link to comment

putrevus
Wow when will this fascination end. Rohit is useless test player along with Dhawan. They both cannot even survive basic seam and swing. When it did not swing our great guy Dhawan was searching for nonexistent swing in last two tours and getting out to straight balls. Link to comment
