FC avg of 35 but does he look better than our openers (KL and Vijay)? I hope team Ind does not turn him in to a hero

Clearly he has been selected on the basis of form. Moreover batsmen usually average 40-50 in tournament. Last year he scored 700 runs at average of 41.5.

Generally in statistics , you remove the outliers before averaging.. If we remove the 250-notout, his average is 35ish..

Our captain doesn't believe in giving chance to in form domestic performers over proven failures.

Lacking perspective.  He is playing at home. Isnt he? Most Indian openers will do well at home if we give them a debut there.  Situation is not comparable with Vijay and Rahul.  Vijay is on his last leg and Rahul playing his 3rd test in Aus overseas.  people are comparing home versus overseas.  He is playing at home so naturally he will be more comfortable in his own conditions.
