gattaca
He is called the leader of the attack. But he absolutely bowls shyte. Except for being a sharma and Brahmin quota he has no place in the bowling attack. How many times we have seen this ? Looking at shami and so many good deliveries. Ishang is absolutely pathetic Stradlater, bhakum20, Rightarmfast and 3 others 1 1 1 3 Link to comment
rkt.india
Ishant has bowled well. Not everyone can bowl or needs to bowl magic delivery. In Australia, our Achilles heal has always been conceding runs at high ER. This is what they need to do, not give freebies because pitches aren't as bowling friendly. Not conceding runs keeps you in the game. Like first session as we only got two wickets but they could only score 57 that kept us in the game. 90/2 was Australia's session. Ishant isn't a spearhead. He is just good support bowler instead and has done his job. If we had Umesh, we know how quickly he could have changed the session for Australia. Trichromatic
Out of 100 problems we have Ishant isn't one. He is best 3rd pacer we can get. Rightarmfast, bhakum20 and Laaloo 2 1 Link to comment
gattaca
This is the problem. If we don’t try another pacer in place of him. We truly don’t know how our pace attack is. May be siraj. Does Australia play peter sidle who is a work horse bowler ? No only when one of the main bowler is injured. Link to comment

Siraj isn't replacement for Ishant. Siraj should replace Shami or Umesh. Australia have Pat Cummins who is completely different bowler. But he wasn't available for long time and Siddle did play for long time. Link to comment
Cricketics
Ishant has bowled pretty tight in this session actually. So far so good. Our worry is closing it out after good start now. Shami bowled multiple deliveries which squared up handscomb. There is something in the pitch but ishant seems to be wasting the ball before it goes soft. Because he has only played overseas and he doesn’t get picked when India play at home as he is not one of the top 2 fast bowlers which india generally pick in India with 2-3 spinners. That said, Ishant is a workhorse bowler on this tour. I am tired of seeing him but we have to recycle him because we carry sleeping giants cum injury prones like Shami who can break down any time. That is where is the value of Ishant is. Thats all. Hence he keeps his place velu 1 Link to comment

That scoring at brisk rate is taken care of by the absence of Warner and Smith. This is a very weak batting lineup who cannot take the charge to opposition. Also Ishant is regarded as spear head but he is really a supporting bowler at best. Having said that Ishant has bowled way better in England and also here so far. I really think if Warner and Smith were there they would have taken on Shami and Ishant and maybe even Ashwin especially Smith. Edited December 7, 2018 by Pollack Link to comment

ShoonyaSifar
Out of the seamers you had to pick the one with best average, strike rate and ER? Ishant has been crap for a long part of his career but for last two years, he's playing the role of the support seamer quite well. Is he a match winner? Perhaps not, but he holds one end up, can bowl 24-25 overs a day with lots of control regularly troubling the batsmen and creating opportunities. beetle and bhakum20 2 Link to comment

Global.Baba
I think gattaca is one of those guys Muloghonto came across on his road trips based on this dumb quotes like Bhramin- quota conspiracy in frickin 2018 On topic Ishant is least of India’s problems. If you are thinking Ishant is still going to be our Steyn and Anderson , you are living under a rock (like me :) ) However he has done a fantastic job as a support bowler for a while and has been really consistent and tight with good returns. Then after Paine was out he relieved all the pressure by bowling wide and gave multiple boundaries for Travis head. At least watch the match first. Link to comment
