Aus v India | 2nd Test | Perth | 14-18 Dec 2018

Recommended Posts

Same XI or make a change or two ?

If Shaw is fit, he should replace Vijay.

Vihari in place of Rohit?

If it's a flat drop in pitch, may be play both Ash and Jaddu along with 3 pacers to lessen their load and save their energies for the subsequent tests.

Since there is no news on Shaw yet, most likely it will be the same 11 .... Shaw probably would be available at Melbourne :dontknow:

However, strategically, we should make changes proactively (assuming Shaw is unavailable) :

a) If Vijay is not shaping up well, get Vihari in and open with Rahane

b) Depending up on the pitch -> Ashwin vs Kuldeep (not sure how Kuldeep responds to relatively green pitches)

c) Rohit (extra batsman) vs Bhuvi (extra bowler who can bat a bit)

KL

Rahane

Pujara

Kohli

Vihari

Rohit (or Bhuvi if required)

Pant

Kuldeep / Ashwin / Bhuvi

Shami

Ishant

Bumrah

PS Perth is expected to have pace and bounce  -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qoMNU4oUj14

Perth traditionally supports seamers, Ashwin couldn't stand up on a tailor made wkt u could find in Australia so he should sit out for me

Shaw

K Rahul

Pujara

Virat

Rahane

Rohit last chance on a wkt which should suit his style/ bowl a bit

Pant

Ishant

Shami

Bumrah

K Yadav for me

Its going to be a green hard pitch with a lot of pace and bounce according to the curator.

its a fast bouncy pitch so-

  • BHuvi has to be played ahead of Ashwin in perth
  • Umesh got 10 wickets in previous test and bowled a lot of overs, he has to play ahead of the spearhead.
  • Shammi
  • Bumrah

Vihari only as Rohi's mindset is ODI mindset , he thinks like rishabh pant.

in batting no other change as SHaw will be unavailable, if he is available then shaw plays ahead of Murli.

Won't need longer spells from spinner in perth I guess, vihari can bowl 15-20 overs when needed.

It depends on the pitch...if it's going to flatten out, better to play Umesh in place of ishant

Nice to see Indians are pumped up in AUS after so many years :cantstop:

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity :phehe: ..... unless some more aussies decide to use sandpaper in the middle with dozens of camera's on them then maybe they will be mediocre for a few more years.

On a serious note, the aussie bowling is at full strength. So vvs laxman rightly said that the team with more consistent batting will win the series. It is definitely good to see the aussies suck. Hopefully, pujara gets more support from other batters in the remaining games.

Umesh ahead of Ishant?  After watching this test?  You are a special child aren't you.  One that apparently plays club cricket.

Hilarious to see a pathetic greenbro whose team can't even buy a draw in Aus after 20 years.  They just keep getting bitchslapped consistently, to the point where Australians are seriously considering not inviting them again - a la Bangladesh.

that was in Indian condition with SG ball, umesh has always been good in Indian condition with SG

This is australia and the ball is kookabura , umesh leaks a lot of runs

Had he played this game he wud have leaked those 31 runs in a span of 5-6 overs

Most sensible selection...

Vihari can certainly bowl some tidy overs...

Bhuvi will add some lower order batting strength

King Kohli will NOT change the team. He should but he wont.

Vihari for Hitman.

Replace Vijay for Bhuvi and open the batting with Rahul and Ashwin.

India need to be able to operate 5 bowlers.

I would love for India to win in Perth and then demoralize the Aussies in Melbourne and bat them out of Melbourne for a draw that has them needing to chase a ridiculous mammoth total on the final day to try and keep the series alive.

It would be nice if we could all enjoy this overseas series victory in Melbourne while India are batting out the Aussies.

And yet, Pakistan could not whitewash the same side at their own  " home ".    :phehe:

They did not even have Hazlewood and Cummins playing, was a proper A side missing 4 of its best players.

This one at least has the full strength bowling attack (among the strongest in world cricket) so runs scored against them does matter a lot.

Want to see Shaw in the playing XI

Would be so great to see him on this bouncy wicket. His fantastic backfoot play would be ideal for this track. But looks like he's started to jog mildly only this week and there is very little chance of him being fit in time.

The pitch is a big mystery. It seems no one is completely sure how it will play although people are expecting pace and bounce. We knew what we were going to get at old WACA, not here. Kind of miss the WACA pitch to be honest, it was so unique. No other place has a pitch like that.
