Match thread: Ind vs Aus - Final test, Sydney (3rd Jan to 7th Jan)

Recommended Posts

In what supposed to be a big year with big talking from Ravi Shastri and Kohli upon arriving in South Africa for the test series and losing in South Africa and England.

This Australia tour has got to be a must win series for India over Australia to make up for a disappointing year .

from this 13, likely xi could be

Rahul

Agarwal

Pujara

Kohli

Rahane

Viahri

Pant

Jadeja

Ashwin/Kuldeep/Umesh

Shami

Bumrah

The trio of Ashwin, Kuldeep and Umesh are fighting for a single spot.

Given the 13 we are tied with and Ashwin supposedly unfit   ... my playing 11

1. Mayank

2.  Rahul  ...

3.  Pujara

4.  Kohli

5.  Rahane

6.  Vihari

7.  Pant

8. Jadeja

9.  Umesh   ...   should have been Bhuvi

10. Shami

11. Bumrah

--   We should not weaken our batting in this test match

--   Must pick 3 pacers in Australia

--   Vihari  can be the 2nd spinner

What is the point of Bhuvi and Pandya in the squad if they can't even make the 13 in a scenario like this? :dontknow:

to carry drinks and flex their humongous muscles of course (especially bhuvi's).

high chances they ll end up playing 2 spinners + vihari.....itne spinners aus men

or

3 pacer + 2spinners which wud include unfit ashwin n brainless umesh

more likely we will see 3 pacers (including scattergun yadav) + jaddu with vihari bowling more overs.

thats also a bad move considering its the last test and somewere bumrah n shami wud be tired and 3rd bowler is a leak machine

yes, it is a bad move. but nobody claimed that the coach or the captain is bursting with cricketing intelligence. :)

India's 13-man shortlist for SCG Test: Virat Kohli (C), A Rahane (VC), KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal, C Pujara, H Vihari, R Pant, R Jadeja, K Yadav, R Ashwin, M Shami, Jasprit Bumrah, Umesh Yadav

My team, is that you dont take chances in a 5 day test match with an injured player so the XI is

Agarwal

KL

Puj

Kohli

Rahane

Vihari

Pant

Jadeja

Kuldeep (/Ashawin)

Shami

Bumrah

the last time kuldeep played a test overseas he leaked as well, n most wrist spinners generally give more loose balls then finger spinners

Kuldeep was in his debut test, this Sydney wicket will turn and Australia has shown vulnerability to spin.

Not to mention Kuldeep is a better bat than Umesh.

In the 70 odd years of trying to win a series in Australia.

IMO it rests on a coin toss.

India bats first and bats Australia out of the match. That simple.

If Australia bat first, India will sh1t themselves and lose.

The last Ashes test at SCG, Aussie batsmen sent the poms for a leather hunt. In as many as 3 of them got 100's (khawaja and Shaun Marsh got big ones)  and this playing on 2nd 3rd days batting second..Pat Cumming took most of the wickets then in both innings.

My point, the toss is not such a factor at the SCG unless weather plays a part, and the other is that spin was not the clincher .

Something to ponder on isn't it

I get the feeling I am going to hate Indian cricket after the Sydney test.

If 2018 is any guide and any of the past 70 years traveling to Australia, India will find a way to fcuk up and lose this test against one of the worst Australian batting sides ever assembled.

Just looked at the weather update, looks worse than Melbourne

Where are you reading the weather from there are some accurate and not so accurate forecasts around in Australia.

For the record rain is expected on Days 4 and Day 5.

If India bat first, they have almost won the series. The goal will be to bat till Day 3 and longer.
