zen
Don Bradman probably started the trend of fascination with great batsmen. Over the years, the torch has been passed on from one generation to the next in a link: 1928-1948: Don Bradman 1954-1974: Garry Sobers 1971-1991: Gavaskar (1971-1987) and Richards (1974-1991) 1989-2013: Lara (1990-2006) and Tendulkar (1989-2013) 2011-Present: Kohli Kohli has the torch at the moment. Who else is in his bracket? Who are the young batsmen who can carry the torch forward? velu 1 Link to comment
Cricketics
We have to wait. Williamson and Smith are too good right now to not be talked in the same breath. I would sah lets give these guys another 2 years and then we can say whether Kohli has the baton or torch or someone else. I think Williamson and Smith have done enough and even Root to be consisdered as the Fab 4 od this era. I would like to see how they are doing for their teams in the next couple of years. Number
After Kane Williamson recent knock vs Pakistan I rate him higher than Virat in tests. Edited January 7, 2019 by Number Link to comment
Nikola
Smith should be there for whatever he has done till now. He looked like coming close to bradman year ago. Maybe when he is back he won't be same batsman but for now he should be in that list for what ever he has performed. Kane is most technically correct but because NZ plays so less tests i assume he won't make as big mark as others. Link to comment
zen
ABDV played most of his cricket in 2010s so can be a candidate for a spot in the current bracket too Edited January 6, 2019 by zen Link to comment

mishra
Smith still averages over 61 @SR 55+ after 66 games while Kohli averages over 53 @ SR 57 after 77 matches. While both are at same age. Smith a lil younger. And a difference of 8 runs in average is not visible to us and Best batsman is Kohli. Kohli's PR machinery doing good job Edited January 8, 2019 by mishra Vilander and Stan AF 2 Link to comment

Temujin Khaghan
I think ICF has moved on from clinging to "the best batsman in the world is our Indian player" mentality. Just give us WC19 and wct2020 Link to comment
Vilander
On topic. 2018 has been the toughest year for a batsman in tthe past decade. Compelling stat, speaks of Kohli and Pujaras greatness.
