Probably they are local to where the game is being played?  Usually BP XI doesn't necessarily have the best players, spreads the opportunity to face touring sides a bit.

Rinku & Garg playing QF for UP. How they can be in BP X1.  ? Only those not playing QF were to be selected for BP

After watching Shivam Mavi bowl yesterday in Ranji QF,  it is clear that he is ready for the  India-A team for the Unofficial tests.

The temperament and ability that he showed while setting up a top international batsman like Pujara, and dismissing him eventually,  was awesome.

In the olden days,  express bowlers of all countries usually used to be wayward during their early years. But Mavi was putting such a high percentage of deliveries in the right areas while moving the ball at high pace.  This is so commendable.  Perhaps a result of playing quite a few U19 tests under the guidance of Dravid and Mhambrey.

He maybe a young bowler but not a rookie.

Special talents need to fast tracked ... the selectors have done a good job regarding this aspect as far as Pant, Shaw and Gill are concerned.   Now, it is their time to do the same regarding Mavi   (  and Nagarkoti when fit  ).

Well Nagarkoti when fit has to prove himself all over again. This seems to be a career threatening injury for Nagarkoti spanning a really long long time. He has to build himself up to the right skills and match fitness all over again. Good wishes to Mavi and Nagarkoti.

maybe rahul chahar is not on the same level as far as being a special talent is concerned (I think he may be just as good), but given our lack of test leggies, he should be playing in the A-team.

Yes.  He is in my preferred team in an earlier post in this thread.

@Vijy... we need to include only those bowlers who have a realistic chance of representing India in the near future in that particular format ... and are preferrably in form.

For tests --

Rahul Chahar can definitely be the backup wrist spinner.  Probably has some batting ability too.

Nadeem the backup left arm orthodox.

Gowtham,  a decent backup for Ashwin.  An off spinner in form who can bat somewhat.

Rajpoot, the tall, accurate fast medium backup for Ishant.

Avesh and Mavi ... genuine fast bowlers in great wicket taking form ... backups for genuine fast bowlers Bumrah and Shami.

And Warrier ... a bouncy fast medium bowler who is in top form too.

There is no point wasting spots on dibbly dobblies like Deepak Chahar  (  was picked for the Unofficial test series in NZ   ).   Will he or should he play for India in tests in the near future  ?

all of them are good choices. however we need to identify a better offie for the future - gowtham is the best of the meagre pickings in this category (e.g. rasool & saxena are too old).
