Board President’s XI:

Ishan Kishan (C & wk), Rituraj Gaekwad, Anmolpreet Singh, Deepak Hooda, Rajat Pattidar, Ricky Bhui, Himmat Singh, Mayank Markande, Jayant Yadav, Pappu Roy, Pankaj Jaiswal, Tushar Deshpande, Navdeep Saini.

poor selection IMO. not sure why patidar, hooda, himmat are there. would rather have seen likes of rinku singh, jonty sidhu, and priyam garg.

Probably they are local to where the game is being played?  Usually BP XI doesn't necessarily have the best players, spreads the opportunity to face touring sides a bit.

perhaps you're right - I didn't look up the location. in the past, BP XI was quite strong, sometimes even stronger than a proper "A" team. this one feels more uneven. bowling is also iffy with deshpande (who breaks down often) and jaiswal (trundler). since the priority is not high, maybe they just threw together a random collection of players.

Keep in mind that Eng Lions will play a bunch of games.  Its BCCI's job to spread the opportunity around a bit, especially when hosting such games that don't matter as much.  Sometimes a young guy who doesn't necessarily deserve a game at that point plays against quality tourists and has a wake-up call about what he needs to do.  And besides, when India "A" goes on tour, or even our national team, host boards often give us warm-up games with really soft club level teams.  No need to do Eng a favor by giving them best in class opposition for all the games.  Doubt they did that when India "A" toured England.

UP is playing QF's, so, Rinku and Priyam wont be available.  Sidhu, it was first season, so isnt there.  Patidar has a list A average of 44 with an SR of 103.  Himmat has a list A average of 63

wont call Jaiswal a trundler. He bowls at a zippy pace.

Rinku & Garg playing QF for UP. How they can be in BP X1.  ? Only those not playing QF were to be selected for BP

After watching Shivam Mavi bowl yesterday in Ranji QF,  it is clear that he is ready for the  India-A team for the Unofficial tests.

The temperament and ability that he showed while setting up a top international batsman like Pujara, and dismissing him eventually,  was awesome.

In the olden days,  express bowlers of all countries usually used to be wayward during their early years. But Mavi was putting such a high percentage of deliveries in the right areas while moving the ball at high pace.  This is so commendable.  Perhaps a result of playing quite a few U19 tests under the guidance of Dravid and Mhambrey.

He maybe a young bowler but not a rookie.

Special talents need to fast tracked ... the selectors have done a good job regarding this aspect as far as Pant, Shaw and Gill are concerned.   Now, it is their time to do the same regarding Mavi   (  and Nagarkoti when fit  ).

maybe rahul chahar is not on the same level as far as being a special talent is concerned (I think he may be just as good), but given our lack of test leggies, he should be playing in the A-team.
